great days shootin mate
-
and welsh rugby has "mana" or pride to new zealand, we hold wales in high esteem here :friends: must be the sheep thingy :11:
-
why don't you guys let a few tame pig sows go with ya wid boar to give them a helping hand. duroc sows are the best as they don't throw patchy piglets and are great mothers.
-
elk and reds are not one in the same, they are from the same family or branch of deer but have gone on another path, they are cousins, the sika deer is of the same family and both types are able to breed with the red deer as we have found out here in nz. the wap bugle or whistle is not as hair tingling as a roaring red at twenty meters in thick bush gives ya the shits!
-
whoops that was a spot the deer shot  here's the pig in a hole shot
-
went for a quick walk tonite {abs, lions test tomm so not huntin sat} pissing down with rain but plenty of pigs out eating worms and rooting up a storm, seen a good mob of fallow and dogs/pups caught a 60lb boar which they chased for ten mins then held him in a bloody big mud hole. got him on video clip so how do ya post them up, easy than taking stills my camera's as slow as a lions winger :11:
-
pigs are fast but only cause they always break down hill, on flat ground a well paced dog will easily out run them after a few hundred meters, pigs don't sweat so they over heat after a while. the red and wapiti are similar but not the same waps being about 2 and a half times bigger we have some up the road and when compared to reds they are huge, mind you a full grown sambur stag is even bigger again built like a horse :search:
-
elk with a running dog!!!!!!!!!!!! nope kye couldn't see it maybe a young elk calf but a full blown bull no way :11: . have had dogs that caught red deer and the stags are not to bad once the dogs run it out of puff. sika stags have more guts i reckon.
-
red, fallow, whitetail, wapiti or elk, sambur, rusa and sika peg.
-
awesome heads peg mate, wish they introduced them down under.

yeah it's an old and simple cross, give ya the guts and hunting drive of the lab and the fitness and natural holding power of the boxer. both the lab and the boxer have the right kind of prey drive i like in a pigdog, i have a pure boxer that loves hunting anything if given the chance, they are not the sharpest tool in the shed, however i bet even the dumbest boxer would have ago at a bailed pig it's so natural for them.
-
boxer x lab first cross. yeah i'll post up some soon as i get some fresh ones but hard to get good shots in the bush but i'll give it a go.
-
been hunting for a few days getting my pups on to some pigs and decided to blast a few with my 3006 these little bulldozers were plowing up a paddock and was lucky to get a second shot as the mob of 14 took off to different points of the compass in 2 seconds.http://
-
yeah they went straight in stabs got tossed off a few times then laid down a steady bail which is want i prefer. the domestic blood does give the ferel stuff a bit more size but not much more we don't know where this coloured sow came from but she was throwback the pups found a nest of piglets tonite that where the same colour so we must have a boar running around the same colour, saw a blue boar the other day that would have gone 250lbs so hopefully he jumps a few sows before my 3006 meets him
-
my young pups have started there life as pig dogs while they didn't find this young sow they jumped straight in and had a go, we usally release the sows but this on had to be removed due to her domestic blood. still proud of the wee nippers,6mths old next week.

we have had the same problem in new zealand with tb. cows are just part of the cycle with tb, we don't have badgers but do have aussie possums which were main source of infection with our dairy herds and beef industry, however years of dumping 1080 poison has still giving the country pockets of tb outbreaks, they have since traced it back to wild ferrets, hedgehogs, deer, pigs and even wild turkeys. the tb gets transfered to cows when the infected animal in the stages of dying wanders into a paddock of cows, the cows being curious lick the infected animal and contract the tb. it goes through the

here's my hunting knives, they live on the back door step, both hand made in nz small ones a svord general purpose, made from swedish steel holds a good edge. bigger one is my duel pigsticker, stainless steel and well balanced, both have seen alot of use. might be a bit overkill for ya guys fox though lol.http://

welcome to the world of dog breeding snatch :11: ya can make money from breeding but not much, and by the time you put in ya time spent, it works out about even. i only breed when i have orders for at least half the pups and never drop the price on any left over, in fact a well bred pup is of more value at 4 mths old as some pple prefer an older pup. i breed a litter of pure boxers every second litter out of my boxer bitch which more than covers the cost of breeding the next cross breed litter{lab} and find it works out well. in your case i would have culled the litter by half, but you do have

in the waikato/kingcountry snatch, on the west coast of the north island.
-
yeah we do tomo, thats why alot of hunters brand thier dogs, mind you if i was a theif i would only steal a branded dog as ya wouldn't bother branding a average or inexperienced pup/dog lol. but the value of a good dog over here is huge dogs have been sold for 5k and 8k. lost or stolen dogs have a better than average chance of making it back home though thanks to our large population of pighunters and magazines and club systems. plus the fact most pighunters hate dog thieves :realmad:
-
in aussie the gun laws are heaps tougher, gun registration, no semi autos ,must be long to a club etc. was in queensland not so long ago trying to find a gun shop and was told there are only three gun shops in the whole state unlike here where there's one in every town, sometimes two! different culture in aussie.
-
yeah bracken boy tee tree oil is good for small cuts and rips, don't know if you guys get tee tree honey over there but i have used it over here for cuts and rips with good results cleans out all the shit and stops infection. most pokes from boars look harmless but can hide all sorts of nasties and need to be opened up and allowed to drain.

only a gun lisence is required in nz, issued at the airport if ya have a current gun permit in your own country. our lisence is good for ten years. ya can take any game over here with dogs but it's not that popular unless ya mean pighunting with dogs which is third in line after fishing and rugby
-
do you guys get the neoprene gaitors. great for keeping ya feet dry and silent for hunting.
-
have owned a couple of purebreeds, and rate them quite highly as allround gundogs.not sure [bANNED TEXT] kinda hunting ya plan on using one for but for lurcher breeding i reckon they would be quite headstrong to train, the ones i have had were great indicating dogs and had guts to spare on wild pigs and an awesome natural throat hold on red deer. yeah like phil says the gwp like the airedale don't start fights but they don't back down to any aggressive dogs.thats thier only fault maybe due to the fact they were expected to defend shot game from predators in their homeland.
