  1. nuffing wrong with that cross, be only too happy using it on pigs, give me an old ebt anyday, plenty of guts and strenght with bugger all brains :11: but they do hunt well.
  2. have a nice one bro :friends:
  3. gotta love them airedales, my pup is getting big now and hope to get her on some pork early next year.
  4. i use the hose, only have to do it a few times but it works. i got a litter of boxer pups at the moment that are learning that barking and whinning at the puppy pen walls is not gonna get them out but a quick shower, and they're 7 weeks old :11:
  5. one of my best ever terriers bailed a mum stoat with kits one day and she showed him a thing or two, he wouldn't even go into the blackberry after her, and he was a bloody hard dog who had been on some very good boars and his possum tally was in the thousands. my old lab however was a devil on them and killed hundreds in his 14yrs he was great with ferrets but be had a thing for stoats.

    Egg Collector

    hell you guys have got some strange laws, but why would anyone want to collect birds eggs lol
  7. i'd put my money on a wild stoat over a tame ferret. the ones we get here are the size of small jills anyway. i used to do the ferreting years back and had this happen the smell and banging coming out of the bunny hole was huge. my ferret came off second best and the mother stoat and her kits walked straight into my lab and foxterriers, result 8 stoats and a few more ground birds that summer. wild ferret to stoat would be different as we get them here as well and they grow big and woolie.
  8. thats just sick. was it taken in south africa or the states

    i have done alot of hunting with an ex serb game keeper, and he had a pack of jagds and also used a teckel? as far as i could make out it was a type of daushund, sausage dog lol, i was impressed with size of the boars these dogs bailed. those blackmouths curs are similar to [bANNED TEXT] most kiwi hunters use goran.

    yeah i sort of gathered that you are very inexperienced, i have hunted a few times in aussie both in the flat and mountains and with bull arabs, which i think are alot more common than dogo's in aussie, i was gonna import them to nz at one stage but they are too heavy for our thick country, they would catch pigs don't get me wrong though. we do have alot of different terrain here too desert type and open tussock. a pair of allrounders is [bANNED TEXT] i prefer find-bail and hold is the term they go by. on a personal note i can see a time that aussies will be banned from "dogging pigs" your ant

    i think ya need to define a "boardog" as i don't rate a holder or a lugger as the be all and end all of a pigdogs. a smaller or medium size size dog can find and catch any pig on the planet. i think you aussie's have very good dogs don't get me wrong but i think you guys gloss over the the real work that pigdogs do in other countries, newzealand papua new guinea and the european countries have been using the small types for the simple reason that they work. the true test of a working pigdog is being able to stop and contain a pig {not all are two ton boars} til the hunter gets there with the r

    always been taught that if a pig can go under a dog the dog won't last long, soft bellies and hard tusks don't match. i prefer the finder/bailer and hold type dogs myself. holders in this country are a dime a dozen, quick trip to the dog pound will get you any number of purebred pit or mastiff/ bully cross. but for nz conditons those big dogs are handicapped by our terrain, yes they do hold/lug well but ya don't need a big dog to contain a good boar, a pair of leggy staffs would hold thier own trust me. and little dogs can take more of a hiding than the big boys in my experience. my dogs are m

    a big dog will always get hurt more than a small dog on boars, weight for weight does not mean shit, i have seen lions get a hiding from a warthog on tv so your theory is not correct.

    let downs

    had plenty of dogs that turned to crap after starting out great, dogs that wouldn't look at sheep til 5 yrs down the track decide to chase them, dogs that just go into retirement at two years :11: all part of hunting i guess :11:
  19. agree with ya peg! get a pup and learn together. used to have a few brittanies top dogs
  20. thanks mik, guess it's alot better than [bANNED TEXT] we do, shooting them from helicopter gunships or dumping 1080 poison on them, bloody govt. but on the plus side we don't have to pay here to shoot a deer, stag or hind.
