  1. it's an elk or wapiti, and yes we have them in new zealand too
  2. nuffing wrong with the hornet, just a bit short on range, have taken red deer with it, ruger m77 and had a brno fox for years. used it mainly for rabbits and goats good to 150 meters and a bit more should handle fox no problem if you know it's limits
  3. well i breed boxers and run boxer cross pigdogs and i know that a undocked boxer will give you a whippy tail that gets jamed in doors and has very little muscle movement. been there bred that. surely the docking of a dogs tail is the right of the breeder, white pups tend to run stronger in different lines, one of my bitches throws them quite regular, nothing wrong with them and they make great dogs, that bulldogs name was tom. using a smithfield collie would have been better than a corgi but those dogs look pretty good and i'd run them on the pigs
  4. awesome action shots, how high up where you?
  5. my old lab, no matter where he was on the section he was always next to the fridge when you opened the door!!!!!!!!
  6. i'll take all the ones with black on them now how much is that gonna cost to ship to nz bloody good dogs the gwp's
  7. only if i had the misfortune of owning a parker hale shane!!!!!!!
  8. been too hot for any pighunting, time of the year that we chase marlin and tuna but took my pups out to the wool shed to get more stocktraining as we are shearing lambs, after it cooled off i went off to get a spiker for the bbq taking the pups with me for a walk found a group of spikers and doing the crawling thing towards them airedale x thinking it was playtime was having a great time pulling on me camo jacket etc while i'm trying to get in to position both with the gun and so i can take some pic's as well then me black pup gives a growl and a woof as a boar which had been feeding on a dead
  9. disagree, bit like the gay issue 99% of us are straight but we must be p/c in putting up with thier lifestyle choice and bullshit. seems to be if ya happen to be a homo ya can stand up and be proud but doing the same if ya happen to enjoy the outdoor life is like ya some sort of crim.
  10. yep we have two herds of sambur, both have a hunting ballot season. yep they are bloody huge even bigger than the mighty wapiti, which we also have have seen a few and the best way to descibe them is as big horses with horns, we also have rusa deer and whitetail and they reckon the moose is still alive down the bottom of the south island. wish they introduced those little roe deer while they where stocking the country
  11. red-sika-pere david and wapiti or elk can all interbreed as they are all subspecies of each other, we have both sika/red and red/elk hybrids in new zealand. the sika stag has a proved to be more aggressive and able to cover new territory to increase his range in new zealand and hybrids have become more common. deer farmers have used pere davids and even sambur deer over reds to increase size, the sambur were by ai and infertile calfs resulted.
  12. he's looking good shane, hows he get on with those other elvine mastiffs?
  13. [quote name='D.C.' date='Jan 15 2006, 08:17 PM' post='4905 At the end of the day we're doing NOTHING wrong, & in my opinion hiding a face makes it looks as though you're ashamed of what you're doing thats my feelings as well, ya look like ira recruits. most of the pictures are great and show hunting in the uk as a way of life. a bit of care in taking pictures, can do more good for your plight than bad.
  14. armour is for poofs, tell ya dogs to get hard or go home.
  15. if any dog was to stop and keep a large pig in one place a 20lb terrier is the dog that would do it.
  16. looks like the little fella is giving that boar a stern talking too nice looking boars, does the dog grab their nuts to stop them??????
  17. geez peg, typical pommy answer lol. the semi is a working gun designed to keep on keeping on, they have proved then selves to be reliable if kept clean same as any other gun.
  18. can you guys get factory loaded 40gr bullets i would still try the 55grs, i know all about barrel twist and how great the hand rolled jobs can shoot, but still would expect moa using the factory stuff, a different point of impact yes but not a huge difference in group size. i load the 64gr bullet for deer and use the 40-55gr for most other things in the sako and it still shoots better than i ever will.
  19. just out of intrest, as the rifle is now liking the 50gr winchester rounds, a factory bullet, what is it shooting the 55 gr like now?? i still think the raw barrel was the cause, and possibly the first type of ammo you used. this is a first class rifle and scope and i would not expect the rifle to have a problem with the 55gr load as most 22.250 ammo here comes in that weight, only the more expensive ammo gives you a choice of bullet weight if you are not into handloading. this rifle should after breaking in the barrel give you moa or under with factory 55gr ammo it is a tikka after all.
  20. my old ambull had the same problem, ended up docking the whole tail as it never really healed.
  21. how do you mean???? the best way would be with two or three lurchers and stalk in close and slip them on them i would say. do that a few times and they should cast off by them selves once they get a few under thier belts and then all you need to do is search for fresh rooting in the bush/woods or on the edge of blackberry groves as they like the cover. the best sport is on a full moon and catching them out on the grass, just find an area where they have been coming out on a regular pattern. a pair of bullies on a lead would be good to catch the pig/boar so you can stick it, or use a rifle once
  22. thought you guys might want to know that the wild boar in devon made our 6'o'clock news to nite, some thing to do with the hounds getting a chance to round them up, the news reader was smiling with the thought of them chasing something live again, hope you guys get to have a go at them as well

  24. ya beat me to it baldie :11: sounds like the stainless barrel is still raw, i assume the t3 is stainless. they can chew through a lot of ammo til they start putting them on top of each other, shoot and clean is the way to go 55grs should be the load to use rather than the light stuff while breaking in the barrel.
