  1. any uk online shops i can order some decoys, pigeons, and at a res price, we are paying $15 bucks each here, and wots the story with those motorised thingies
  2. as we are getting close to the finish of duckshooting here i thought i wold post up a few pic's. lucky the geese and pheasants have a few months to go, man can't live on pork alone sika with another swan mallards and nz shoveller pretty drake
  3. yeah planted pigeons, or in a laucher and a long length of rope will sort it out in a few days, i use the word hold when mine are on point, it's the same command when i some put food down and they will not touch it til i snap my fingers.also watch how your britt is setting on point, if she is in the wrong position, like facing you pick her up while she is pointing and put her on the correct side, do not let her flush til she has been moved. all the britts i have seen have been first class retreivers.
  4. with your laws, with any pighunting done with dogs,it would be silly to advertise what dogs and area's you are hunting. steve mate it's not unfair to state the truth, alot of aussie pighunting is done off the front seat of a ute, but there is a good number of hunters who use the feet.
  5. [bANNED TEXT] a disapointment mate, how hard is it to find a gunsmith getting a cz might be the best bet, they are bloody nice rifles, now i take it you are going to fit a mod, or use the one off the hornet and scope so that will save a few coins. don't know how hard it is to change calibres on your ticket but might be an idea to think hard about a 223. i have one with a mod and it is as quiet as a .22 and heaps cheaper to buy ammo for,and with abit more legs for those long shots..................just throwing a curve ball at you.
  6. very good optic's i once used one on a 7mmstw,.
  7. it's not a question of them getting out of the way, otherwise they wouldn't get off the ute mate, look at the boar, it's not moving at all, they have done the job and the boar is stopped and under control, if he wasn't the boar would have just bolted.
  8. i think ide shoot the dogs then THEN the pig then ide consider a shrinks help thats the trouble with you aussies don't know how good bailing dogs work, why shoot them when the boars stopped and under enough control to have a bit of fun, lighten up bro
  9. going by ya posts i have read of yours d/s and the fact you are not exactly a rifle virgin i asked my mate about his 223 and he said it improved 100% after a trigger job and finding the right ammo,he was ready to throw it in the river, the rifles are built to a price and do have the trigger from hell. save your ammo and get the job done, then spend some time working on your groups,i'm sure they will improve overnight.
  10. there's no need to put up with a shit trigger as it affects shot placement, a gunsmith will lighten it to how you like it.
  11. might pay to check that topper out d/s, trigger job and different ammo will help the way it groups, my own experience with that type of rifle is they do not shoot that well compared to say a brno fox 22h, i had a play with a 223 model, like yours and the groups were not that flash even at fifty meters
  12. good on ya mate, ya got ya gun. franks right get that smoke stick out and see how it shoots, my advise is get a scope on it and then get some loading gear as the little hornet is cheap as chips to load. even better if you can find a mate to keep you in reloaded ammo. i would be keen to see the groups you get out of ya rifle.
  13. in my experience,no. they do very well in crossbreds though. like boxers they are not the sharpest tools in the shed and can have issue's with other dogs, not good in a pack situation. not dishing the breed at all, as they are real good mates. {stabs dogs looked like they could be handy i might add}
  14. just because your dog enjoys fighting other dogs, don't make it a big tough pigdog mate. your dog may only last one encounter with a boar as a dog that goes head to head with a boar has a limited lifespan or gets to know ya vet on a first name basis.
  15. you would be well served by both of those rifles mate, for the price a t3 is the best around i reckon, the sako is a sako and well worth the money, top rifles, a t3 or sako 85 is my next rifle in 2506
  16. thanks p&g, got our limit bag both days, 10 mallards and 10 paradise ducks is the daily limit in our area, and the wire found a rooster, we also culled a few swan.
  17. for us shooters over here not much sleep will be had tonite....will post up some pic's in a few days. sika's all keen to go.
  18. brno,cz are the pick i reckon, not much wrong with the ruger as well if ya want a semi.
  19. my little mate is out and about learning the ropes already. here he is with scuff his sister pointing a winged magpie first bunny duck season starts in a few weeks so will be bombing up these black swans.
  20. i seen this clip on a movie, savage man savage beast now for all you wannabe pighunters, this is how it is, have a count up of the dogs on the boar, you will notice the dog with the guts ripped out is not even part of the dog pack, and there are four dogs on the puma yet somehow a dead fifth dog is rolled out for the camera  the rough bush surgery on the dog is common in nz, but with staples these days. purebred dogo's are able to go one on one with a puma but get sliced up pretty bad.
  21. the main problem is the reg, fci, all our gwp's are classed as dd's in the nzkc and can be registered as such, so a dd imported here becomes a gwp.
  22. once again to get anything from the u/s and the parent club in germany, they will not release dd blood to be mixed with gwp's from aust/nz and the uk, due to the lack of breed wardens and the breeding of untested stock, i have been trying for years to get some fci reg blood for down under, we have a versitile gundog club and testing in nz now and it won't be long [bANNED TEXT] we are able to get the good stuff here as the dogs are put through the hunt tests, importing more english breed gwp's will not help as they are not tested, even ones with crufts wins ..........why would he be looking at
  23. you will be hard pushed to get any dd blood into oz, although i don't buy into the split breed debate. i am hoping to have some pups on the ground by imported czech reg dd in a year, bitch is by a german imported and tested dd sire, is some aussie stuff there but will be slowly bred out as i import more european blood, is surpose to be a norwegian dog coming into the country soon, new zealand.
  24. i don't hunt with any dogo's, i owned a bitch. shanedog hunts with dogo x's though.
  25. kaiserremy titles and any sort of americam testing don't mean stuff all in the real world of pighunting, the americans have this thing with pinning medals and titles on both gundogs and hog dogs, thats fine for the states but don't mean much to us down under and is not going to help the dog catch a pig any faster or hold any cleaner. i have alot of time for the ambull but i and alot of other guys over here have seen it's short comings, for a holding dog they are great but who wants to walk a dog on a lead in heavy bush. we hunt a little different here, and the only testing we do is on the hil
