  1. Thanks again for the welcomes here - I was made really welcome by Trev and the Members at Emley FTC. Ivan (the elder), Ivan (the younger), Darren, Garry, Terry and Craig let me have a go with their guns. Wayne and others were really informative and David offered to sell me his TX 200 for a couple of thousand pounds (He said that he'd throw in some pellets). Had a good intro. Anyway the outcome is that I got a call from Ivan later about a Pro Sport at Guns International at Barnsley - went down and I'm sorted (well I will be when I get the kneeling cushion, scope flip ups, a funny glove, a gun s
  2. Thanks Mon Ami..I can see this untin, shootin and fishing lark may become catching
  3. Hi Ian Thanks ....been to the Club today might go down the small steps route via a springer (AA Prosport) and get my head 'round the basics before I try and absorb this modern PCP malarky. John
  4. Thank's, I thought it might by, it's like learning a new language (and I'm just getting used to English) Best Regards
  5. Thanks, what a friendly site. After these 'welcomes' dare I ask what it means when you see 'Bump' on messages? Best Wishes John
  6. Thanks for that, but if you don't mind me saying that labrador looks underfed! (only being silly). It's appreciated John
  7. Thanks, I can see that this is going to become a great place John
  8. Hi Comp Is there something in the air? (a gun perhaps) but I get the feeling that there are a few of us oldies returning to 'the art of what is shootin' I'm in a similar situation although not sorted with weaponry - I've just started putting my sixpences in a jar and telling my lady that it wont cost much (but it's a start). If you find a friendly landowner whose acreage extends to Holmfirth please please let me know.
  9. Living in Holmfirth, West Yorks and as I approach my 61st year, I've just got the air rifle bug again. I fired a couple of little really old break barrel springers at a friends recently (at paper targets) and it was enjoyable. Looking at what's out there I'm amazed at how air rifles and the stuff that goes with them have moved on since 'my days' - I had a .22 BSA Airsporter when I was 14, which I used for 'rough shooting'. I was thinking of getting a decent .22 underlever again (they were the ones to have back in then) and I'd got it down to a HW 97 or Air Arms TX 200. Probably second han
