Some cracking whippets there i also think its alot down to tase i have been told alot i should show the bitch and a few friends who i race with have said they would show her but its not where my interest in the breed lay's .I like that wee bitch goldfinch also like yours triple tree i always find they take to things better when brung on with a dog that enjoys jumping etc the bwra pup i have swims like a fish and my others wont go in unless they need to. Pup only likes it as she has been brung on with my mates cocker pup so she thinks swimming is the norm . I also like a well put together whip

No worries rolysmate its always good to see what others are running im going to have another black one myself later in the year yours looks a fine young whippet

To be fair dotty my black bitch always has been and always will be my pride and joy the fawn bitch is a handy tool but the black bitch would have put her to shame in her peak a few years back but the fawn bitch is in far better nick in the first pick. I also like a handy lurcher in the kennel but not long rehomed my bullx dog as i couldnt provide a regular enough supply of work for him and i dont see the point in keeping a dog i wont use. All i ever work is rabbits now so the whippets are all i have all barr my wee non ped bitch but she is solely for racing. The main reason for putti

Id just like to add the bitch is stripped down to racing condition and weight for the racing season as i dont work young game with my dogs so as youl see from pictures she is about 1/4 of a lb lighter than i work her at but in reality she is at a higher peak in her fitness now in her racing state than she is with a bit more weight on at working condition. I also strip my black bitch down to 22lb for racing.

Well as for nothing to compare it to here are a few of my dogs and my good ones retire here aswel. same bitch after a nites lamping. my black bitch whom is now getting on a bit at about 6 still works day and nite.
-
You havent offended me in the fact you dont like her shape i also dont like alot of whippets but mainly due to the fact the majority are over weight and over sized nowadays i just meant if i seen the type of whippet you considered what the breed should look like i could compare. The picture in my avatar was taken by her previous owner before i bought her last year.

i agree but 9 out of ten whippets i have seen on here lately couldnt jump the step to my kennel never mind a 5 bar gate .

over most things with ease ? how many whippets have you seen jump farm gates and work a long net properly ? As for breed standard i can asure you the breed standard for whippets was set a long time before the show lines wrecked the breed. Exactly what experience do you have of the breed ? i run my dogs at 3 clubs and have owned raced and bred these dogs for 15 years so i can asure you i know a decent whippet when i see one. As i say could you post a picture of the type of whippet you class as a good one then ? i dont care where the picture comes from search google ? just would be nice

For what reason ? she is 18.5" 22 lb and exactly what the breed standard states a whippet should be . She works day and nite on the lamp with ferrets and long nets jumps like a bullx and retrieves i couldnt ask for more. Out of curiousity id like to see the shape of whippet you do like .

One of my bitch's this is what a fit whippet should look like.

any piks of the dog pup mate pm me how there bred -
If he wasnt keen on the dog why waste time getting it over from ireland and money buying it in the first place ? Cracking looking dog all the same .
-
Your giving her away mate . If i didnt have the whip x grey pup to bring on i would have snapped your hand of when she was £500 i thought that was a bargain as thats what my 3 whippets cost me. Your bang on though moneys tight all over the now and with the law being brung home heavy its puting folk of. Never in my days have i seen a saluki pup of half this quality for this kind of money . Hope you find a good genuine home for her mate she is an absolute stotter. kris

Dont clip him mate you wreck his coat it will come in totaly diff and thick and fluffy , If you let it grow in i personaly wouldnt strip him till he has grown on i dont see the need to strip pups as there coats coming in and will fall out once the puppy fluff comes of . I know alot of lads with beddy's one with a wheaton and borders and they all say they clipped there first and would never clip another as the coat grows in diff and will never be the same again . Fairly coming on as i said from the start he looks bang on for a wheaton ill try and get some piks of the bloke i knows dog he i

There are chickens then there are cocks read some of the fowl threads on here or search the web for game birds youl be surprised these birds are worth money .

What a carry on no dog of any breed has the ability to gain an inch in height just because there fit. They do stretch then drop a bit once mature but never have i heard the likes of gaining and losing an inch due to fitness. Either way a 23" whippet is 2" over breed standard be aswel with a lurcher.
-
How far into her season is she ? if she is still heavily bleeding and its the first you noticing i would doubt she was far enough on to let him over her and even if she did i doubt she would be ready. Upto your self but if in doubt your aswel paying the couple of pound to get her cleaned out. kris

So am i correct in reading he was an inch bigger when he was very fit :S:S wouldnt mind some of what your smoking .......

How can his dogs be true working dogs from a working dog breeder when its been said time and time again on here by people who know the bloke well that he DOES NOT WORK HIS DOGS ? I dont debate there capable on rabbits any whippet is , as for names on beddy whippets i doubt that the breeding of the whippet makes a the dog you dont see people asking what beddy is through it do you ? The main diff aswel is that a show whippet will catch rabbits and a show beddy will not work to ground and infact would be in some serious trouble doing what a working beddy does so realisticly if i were buying

Some belters out to play in here . As for the no tail slowing them down what alot of garbage i know a bloke about 8 year ago had a big black racing greyhound with yeah you guessed it no tail abba was his name and he smashed the track recored and won more open races than any other dog he had in his kennel of 30 odd dogs he also had a big tan dog with a docked tail whom also won more than his fair share so i can assure you if its in the dog then the loss of its tail will be the last thing that slows it down but if an open race greyhound can cope without one im sure a bloody bullx can catch a dam

Was just going to say that for a dog to be of a line be it pie , Sooty sam whatever in my eyes has to have the dog on both sides of its paperwork within 2 generations at least once or in 5 generations a number of times not just once on one side 3 gen back to be classed as a specific line.

docked tail labradors?
fresh earth replied to forest of dean redneck's topic in Gundogs & Retrievers
Old bloke trains two labs on some of my permision a black and a golden the black bitch also has a docked tail its first i have seen it to -
I wasnt meaning pie mate i was meaning any black bullx can be said to look like him but that means faf all in this game its the ones that work like him that are worth bothering about.
-
Thats deff the pie dog that people talk about lines down from. At the end of the day any black bullx can look simular to most others at times and in diff piks's whether a dog look identicle to another or not is not relavent its like a ringer on the flapps they look the same but thats about it

I use the red mills racer and add meat.
