  1. Lines depend what you want cornstalk oakbark etc are some decent show lines laguna one of the more popular racing lines we have a mixture of oakbark cornstalk nimrodel avismar cobeyco an old coursing bred bitch and the wee black dog is virtualy all down from laguna stuff mots people prefer a sertain lines but there are differences in most of them and after a few years looking into the breed you can tell them apart alot have greyhound in the blood and are big dogs 22" and over i would never look twice at such a dog with kc papers its just people trying to add speed and size to there line not my
  2. Read the above post you tit kreet is here with me and my brother we will be heading out lamping at 9 the snow is clearing up where the hell did i say that 23" is a kc whippet :S:S i said above i like small whippets i have a 11 week old pup kreet bred oh and the puppy peddlar gave me the pup he also gave my brother the black and white bitch above like mates do personaly i cannot find a fault with kris's whippets read my post all his whippets are under 20" and he has dna paperwork to prove it i take it you know kris first hand to talk about him with such guarantee of what he is like .... i am gr
  3. I have seen some nice larger whippet but prefer a small dog they are just as capable and its only in a strait sprint that you can realy see the difference i have seen alot of small whippets under 19" take dozens of rabbits on the lamp ferreting mooching and retrieve hare or a regular basis the above long ear was shot and retrieved on a private estate at the start of the season by a 9 month old pup when the long ear was still capable of attempting an escape .
  4. I meant if you want a dog over 22" you dont want a whippet you would be aswel with a bwra whippet or a greyhound . all above whippets are leeali and silkspun lines bred all barr the blue stud are bred or owned by kreet of the site none are or will make over 20" all take all legal quarry and would take a hell of alot more if it were legal . greg and kreet.
  5. Sitting reading this with kreet it would not let him post piks oh and for the record yes there are alot of the whippets now carrying greyhound blood you get dna test's kreet had his ones tested his dog is 18.5" at 14 months and is very well put together laguna lines his bitch's are all between 19 and 19.5" mixture of decent lines in my opinion a whippet should be no more than 21" there are alot of well known lines that yes if you know where to get them you can get a 23" whippet but who the hell would want to just get a bwra dog or even better a greyhound bitch i have seen some 24" pure hounds
  6. We feed raw tripe one day beef mince the next chicken bits the next bones twice a week offal at the weekend we also judge by the dog .
  7. Ok coney trapper i have had a read and agree it is not worth the risk as for ability the ferret is a better working hob than all my mates and my brothers my brothers mate takes him out regularly when i am at school as he is good at locating rabbits sitting deep and tight up if he were blind or had any deformity then i would not under any circumstances breed him he would be kept as a pet the only reason i work the blind guy is its pitch black in the holes anyway so he wont be able to see. I dont usualy breed for colour i have always bred this hob with polecats and the odd sandy or albino and he
  8. looks more like a whippet x chiwawa than a sbt x jrt ...
  9. simple genetics ? so you are telling me at 13 you understood the genetics of colours etc etc in ferrets :S the hob i have is over 5 i got him he was 3 and he has been here over two years he is a big ferret who works for fun hence i like him his kits will be just over 2 years old also are my best working ferrets out of 9 sorry i fancy breeding for colour and ability at the end of the day if i was breeding dark polecats trying to get them true to type it would be fine ... i cannot see how father to daughter will cause problems its how you start line breeding in dogs if it were hob back to his mo
  10. i put the bew over a silver and a poley both litters were half bew/light silver and the other half poley now i think if genetics are alike the lurchers if i breed the hob back to hi bew daughter i should technicaly have a litter of bews ? was just asking if like the silvers will the kits be deformed as i would not want that i have been breeding ferrets for 6 years so am no novice just never specificaly bred father to daughter to produce sertain colours obviously if i stick him over a cinemon ill get half sandy half bew but thats not what im looking for everyone has the norm i am looking to get
  11. was out today training my mates 9 month old lad threw a dummy into cover when he sent the pup in it pissed about for a minute before coming out with a hare in its gob retrieved it to my mate who leashed the dog and turned the hare loose . They are struggling to feed the now your dogs are in warm beds well fed and watered and you think its something to boast about that the dogs retrieving something you have shot with an unfair advantage the true dog men aint working there dogs at the moment the wanna be dog men are out in force probably as its the only chance there dogs will ever get of nailing
  12. The ferret tamer would what i am saying be ok ? i had read that about the silvers hence asking on here im coming up for 14 so dont know tht much about colours etc although i have had a litter every year since i was 8 from my polecats so just thought i would ask for advice i would happily swap one of my jills for another bew jill to get fresh stock and give someone else fresh stock .
  13. It was on here i saw someone saying that 2 silvers could cause deformed kits as for colours i have had poleys and sandys all my days but had a cracking working bew so kept his two best kits both are working very well i thought that if i put him back over them it would tighten the genes up like with lurchers ? no one has bews up here and i quite like them i know i shouldnt care about what colour they are but if i wanted a merle lurcher i wouldnt settle for a black after all i will have them there whole life. greg p.s im in fife
  14. Got a 10-11 week old whippet pup he is kenneled quite happily but i bring him in every nite to teach him to sit stay etc well he go's a bit nuts and to cut a long story short we have a wooden floor and he keeps jumping about 3 times now he has knocked the same foot yelped and wont put any wait on it now first time i thought he was goosed but he was ok after a few days now second time i was the same now he has done it again it is doing my face in i cant stop worrying my mate has a bitch a year old she has had a niggle in her back leg from 12 weeks and she is still bothered with it any advise do
  15. I defrost my dog meat and woody or whatevers out for the ferrets in my back cupboard at the back door always just chuck it in there bed its 100 degrees in there bed anyway plus they dont faf about i only feed 4 woodys a week to a hob and two jills they are twice the size of all me mates and they feed them tinned meat and ferret buscuits every day .
  16. quick question is it safe to breed black eye white to black eye white i have been told silver to silver is a no no ?? got a father and two daughters here that i was going to breed this season to tighten up the line as the daughters have a slight black line in summer is it on breeding this way also does anyone have a bew jill for sale or swap to change the stock we are breeding as i think every ferret in my town is down of the same bew hob . greg
  17. Mine are kenneled in pairs and with shredded toilet paper bedding been fine up until now the weather has been like this for week they are used to it they would probably be more bothered if the temp rose 25 degree's

  19. i had thought about working her and taking lurchers from her but tbh i am bringing up a pup at the moment i also walk my brothers whippet bitch and his cocker dog pup who is 6 months its all a bit much for me walking the greyhound to she is a big bitch and i struggle to control the two pups and her when she is excited the bitch has had little done with her she might be worth racing and she will just be wasted if i start working her i am tempted some mornings but i would rather she went some where she was looked after as run her just for the sake of it come the summer ill be training a pup so w
