fresh earth replied to ulverston moocher's topic in General Talk
Have to agree there are more decent people on here than made out. this is how it should be in our hobby/sport. -
Best dog i ever owned was a wee 17" whippet back when i was around 13 or so . Got the scott ads one friday at 6 am on road to some ferreting ground. Ran all the way home at 8.30 after calling the boy , Pestered dad for a while and he took me for her £. Had the first of my own greyhounds at the time. Christ was the whippet murder jamp out the run constantly broke her tail at 12 weeks jumping a 6' indoor kennel door. By the time she was 9 months she was pritty fast but never showed much interest till one day we were walking up a quarry. Down went her noose she battered through a bit cover and p

At the end of the day you were showing on the pup not the garden ... Screw the numpty's on here talking about bad feet and whatever the crap about the sire. At the end of the day dogs are fit healthy and with this comunity i will be doing the same with mine for one reason only the proof is in the pudding ! As much as f/h and i like a laugh where is the line drawn ? Do any of you realy thing a man on here daily would go out his way to make sure people on here had his pups ? NO i think he may have done it for a reason and that reason is when 3 or 4 people on this site are updating on the progres

I work cover with cocker's and lakelands and flush to whippets and a couple of beddy whippets only big dog we use is a kelpie x obviously not all mine but i only realy use a lakie and a couple of whippets when im out my whippets tend to work cover well and one go's out wide either side of me and the terrier sort of quarters in her own style they know they have more chance of getting whats put up if there out wide like that and you just have to walk over the right bit cover and youl get something if you know your land youl know exactly where youl put something up regardless of whats going throu

My vets £16 for each jag aswel and worms them while he's at it full check over etc he is a running dog vet though whom i have used all my days since i was around 12. Took a full litter of 8 to him last year and he done them all 1st vaccination wormer and puppy pack for £10 a head as they were all in at the same time he runs an open clinic for an hour every day and nite . Sorry about the pup but .
-
He has reared them how they should be seen far to many under nourished pups on here of late that need a good worm and a bit decent meet . Sure the pups will do there job for all concerned her feet look ok to me tbh i rarely see two greyhounds that look the same there all different in many many ways. Good luck to the pups guys . Kris

Agree any decent friend would drop in a back of feed or would as said pay you back in other ways helping you out etc i have given freinds pups and had pups given to me i have also built double run systems with box beds for a few freinds one just the other week his girl made us a bacon butty and a few cups of tea and that was enough for me . I have also done alot and given alot to people who wouldnt do the same in return but we learn and move on .

Cracking healthy pups bn what are the parents ? i have a litter of grews at the moment 3 weeks on sat coming have very thick coats too . Kris

Whoever filmed that and called the rspca should be slapped about anaw in my opinion why the hell stand back and film it its beyond me like the clown should have done something or as i said phoned the police and followed at a distance till they apeared instead of filming a 12-30 year old with a hood up he could be anyone or any age as some 12 year olds now are huge and some 40 year old junkies tiny so what the hell anyone expects from that vid i dunno best bet is to keep an eye at that park as he will more than likely pass through it regularly
-
Ill second that ftb !! If that imbasil filming it had grown balls and slapped the little twat and taken the dog or at least followed him after the vid to see where he was going then contact police twats . I would have kicked twenty different shades of sh*t out of him taken the dog of the leash and teid him to a tree with it as would anyone i associate with in this area. People just havent a clue.
-
Any cross aslong's its taught properly. Most popular i would say collie x's good brain etc Beddy x quite popular or pure whippets i use the later they are more than capable and lamp and hunt cover for me too .
-
If its stopping mid chase to take a lash it would be left lay beside a tree im afraid as its clearly not interested never once in all my life seen any running dog or terrier that has stopped running its quarry for a piss give it something it cant not catch let it hold rabbits in the net even or take it for a few rats or tie it up and let it watch a dig id try that and if he didnt liven up id have it pts im afraid and i would deff not cover any bitch with it if.

Touch wood the disease doesnt seem so prolific up here but i have a bassin of strong black disinfectant that i step in before i go in my kennels and the runs are scrubed out twice a day even though none of my dogs ever soil there pens i try to keep on top of it the ferrets are disinfected every other day. Hope the little un pulls through for you bud .
-
Stopped after the first set on one of my farms last week bolted 4 3 of whitch milky does also bolted 4 8 week old give or take so just lifted the ferrets and chucked the young uns back in as a couple missed the nets my nephew put down get them in a couple of months once there worth eating .
-
If you ask me its down to how you rear it i have owned whippets from the best show stock in the country that has never seen a lure or rabbit through generations and at 9 or so months the dog was pulling the odd hare and bag fulls of rabbits. Put any running dog onto its quarry at the right time with the proper feeding and fitnes and it will take it whether its from lightning stock or a pure bred collie it will and can take regular game. Obviously worker tio worker should mean = worker but realisticaly it is not always nescesary . Kris

Agree with ss nice looking staff but all he could be any use for is throwing some weight about. And i wouldnt expect anything less from any terrier of his age when meeting fur/feather for the first time . As stated will make a cracking pet for someone. If i wanted a dog bomb proof round chuks and rabbits i would buy a pup and rear it with them may be worth thinking about next time. Kris

dogs nail smashed off down the quick
fresh earth replied to a topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Any decent dgreyhound vet will take it of for pennys . Sometimes it will still keep spliing after the nails of (worst case senario) if so toe comes of and dogs still more than able so wouldnt worry . Tend to agree though get the nail out now rather than let it grow in to then get it sorted just waisted time . Kris -

HERNIA.. IN THE PUP.. advice please
fresh earth replied to busher's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Vets wrong mate its where the cord was seen this a few times mainly in terriers think my dog vet took £60 or something along that line to take it of for a mate of mine he said if he bred the bitch it could burst but once removed wouldnt be a problem he took pups from the bitch in the summer there and she had 6 healthy pups and none had a hernia vet sounds like a imbasil.. Kris. -
Haha how funny how many litters of pups have i advertised on here ? For a start i just rehomed a bitch with better breeding of a simular age due to the fact she had damage to her tendons and muscle now i could have taken a litter of her in december when she broke down but i never . I will also state this bitch is 4 had a litter at 3 and will have one in the summer and before you say anything about that i think two litters are fine from a well proven bitch throwing 1st class pups . I would also like to make it clear i wouldnt sell the pups on here even if i had any to sell and that will be doub
