  1. Thanks Stevo, No don't bother with a locator, in over 25 years of ferreting, never had to. Cheers, Shaun
  2. Hey all, Unsure of THL's policy on me adding this link, but surely you'll all enjoy it. Incase some don't know I run a fishing charter business down here in Aust. Here's the latest report on what's been happening over the past couple of months. Think BIG Charter report Cheers, Shaun
  3. You could probably just use plain flour. I added the corn flour as it does help to bind the mixture up a bit. Seeing its a pie mixture, you don't want it too watery. Cheers, Shaun
  4. argh ye me hearty's pieces of eight & all that garble lol.. Yes there not an easy angling proposition for many, lol Inc me !! We have Blues & Mako' Shark avail here for a short time each season. There is some amazing Mako fishing almost year round only a 4-6hr drive, so they are available. Unsure of your position/location over there, but there's a guy named Gethyn Owen who runs a charter boat from Hollyhead Marina. My Way charters. I've only known him via Facebook as we both have a huge zest & love of Gummy Sharks. He has had an exceptional season this past few months fr
  5. Cheers guys Yes it was a very special moment for young 'Jem' or Jeremy... Mind you the kids near bloody 6ft tall already, going to be a big bugger lol He plays Aust Rules footy with the under 11yrs next season & towers above them all Another special piece to this capture for Jem, was that around 12 months earlier he had been out on a Gummy Charter. We had a big Gummy on, & as it was just starting to be visible as it neared the boat.... Of all things the ing handle on the Fin Nor reel snapped off !!! All of a sudden things were very serious as this Gummy had been rubbing a
  6. We are fortunate over here in the Sthn regions of Aust, As we have an exceptional inshore fishery of Gummy Shark or Smooth Hounds. Each year the larger female breeders move in from nearby Bass Strait & work there way inside the tidal system we have here, known as Western Port. Over the years this fishery has gone through the roof with captures of larger sharks. Average size here is 7-8kg with many of these being kept for fresh flake by recreational anglers. Currently here in Victoria, there is a 2 Gummy Shark per person bag limit. Min size length is known as a partial length &
  7. Just might take the Ferrets & Dogs out in the morning

  8. A mere 50 min drive from Melbourne & then just a handful of klm's from Geelong, Victoria is an area that is very famous/infamous regarding Australian rabbit history. It is the grounds & land area of none other than Thomas Austin. Back in October 1859 Thomas was amongst some others, very keen on establishing some sporting rabbits for the grounds, however things didn't quite stay within the boundaries they had imagined. Within a few short years the whole bottom corner of Sthn Aust was alive/plagued by millions & millions of rabbits. Many industrys were born out of this humb
  9. Ferrets over here in Aust are still available each year from people who are after a quick dollar & think they're doing everyone a favour. Generally these go for around $20-$40 depending on age. Desexed Ferrets can be obtained for around the $100 mark. This includes all vaccinations & they've always been vert certified etc. Over the years I've had all manner of Ferrets & these days am very happy with the current stock I've got. There is a surplus of unwanted Ferrets here in the Sthn parts of Australia & these Ferret adoption/shelters do a remarkable job looking after man
  10. Silly i know, But I saw this at the local supermarket & it reminded me of the username here... Cheers, Shaun
  11. Yes I'm guessing so, it's as old as the hills, parents were avid with it at the table & cooking.. It goes well in pretty much any dish...except possibly cereal lol Actually you can get the Lea & Perrins here too.
  12. Hey all, The last couple of years almost I've been pretty busy running a boat fishing charter operation here in Melbourne Australia. This hasn't left me with a lot of time to do much Ferreting lately, of which I enjoy immensely. Recently however I got out with a good mate & found some action not too far from home. After a great few hours bolting near 20 plus & missing a few, we were happy with a dozen for the trip home. Once home I thought, Ok how about making up some different offerings from the humble bunny & settled on some pastry ideas I'd had in my head for y
  13. Gday Jamie, Had a few issues with fleas over the years here. Have seen them thick years back on bunnies we would ferret. Have also had times of fleas on dogs, we have had flea plague(s)over the years also. But in the last 10 plus years its been very good with no problems at all from fleas or ticks, for me anyway. Used to have a lot more soil in garden/ yard area back then, this has since been paved or concreted in most parts. This has definately dropped their activity. The larger dog is a pure bred Whippet, actually she was bred around 70km's away from where the pics were taken, almost
  14. Hey all, Been a while since i last posted, It's perfect timing here now for Ferreting in earnest, with clear crisp mornings & well sized plump bunnys with thickening coats Last weekend i found myself up at Maldon Victoria, with the Ferrets & dogs. Great afternoon nailing bunnys. Edge of a dried up creek bed, fun when your one up and have 2 mtr side with Bunnys adopting Villa type view for their entrances After the action, Coco has a closer look at the hole where things had come from quickly. In the foreground is Max, a fat hob, who is going very well The g
