  1. Fished the swellies a lot - soft plastics a good bet , as mentioned . I have caught successfully with white and white/blue sidewinders fished risky close to bottom [fishing the swellies is risky!] , i use braid as i find the current doesn't influence as much . I have persevered with a copper toby to no avail [its supposed to be good]. Keep at it - its not an easy place to catch but rewarding when it happens, i have had a handful of magical sessions over the years.
  2. I am after used lurcher training book's or dvd's. For my own use with a pup im bringing on. Thanks
  3. The guy who bought this dog may be a novice , i dont think calling him a div will help , we all started on the learning curve somwhere, maybe some help and advice on how to get the dog started would benefit.
  4. What a sensible reply. Thanks
  5. What i meant was that - in my opinion [in my eyes {no on else can see through these}] Pure bull breeds dont look like working dogs.[it is my opinion and no on else will understand - i cant explain either] but i think that i have answered [truthfully] the original Q.
  6. Could you expand on that HEDS? I'm not sure I follow Cant belive this Q has come from a Mod, anyways heres the answer - Just my opinion [Which is what the original thread question is about]
  7. Mate , the words - pigeons in barns, and - rabbits at 50yds. dont equate very well in my mind . Decide what you want - rabbit at 50 yds [you need some power] pigeons in barns [you dont need any] More info on what exactly your after would be good [at the moment i think your asking for a 4x4 small family car pickup truck with the handling of a lotus and top speed of 170mph]
  8. Cracking question! i know nothing about full bulls, and after reading 5 pages of cachu i still know nothing about full bulls! If you want to know what my opinion of full bulls is - They dont look like a working dog.
  9. Tied flies for years , have a whip finish tool sitting redundant in the box - have attempted the use many times but just forget. Much better and easier by hand.
  10. The time will come when we will have to stop using lead - who you vote for and what the BASC do wont make any difference.
  11. Dont know if im doing right but i always have the rifle in a sleeve and out of sight in the car. Have the bolt and bullets in my pocket. I dont see what more i can do without going OTT.
  12. Cheers guys , I am using a multi catch trap - this is what prompted me to think about leaving it alone for a few days, otherwise why would you need a trap that catches more than one? Do people get big catches in these traps in a short period? Anyways - the rat is dead as a dodo , have rebaited with some peanut butter and hoping for the best! Thanks Again
  13. Hi Have been sifting through the forums - but cant seem to find the info im looking for. I have a rat problem in the back yard , where i keep chickens and also kennel the dogs. I have had a cage trap near a run for about two weeks now baited with dog buiscuits and peanut butter. Success at last - yesterday i caught a fully grown rat. Do i keep the rat in the trap for a few days? [thought it might act as a decoy?] although i fully understand there are implications regarding the wellbeing of the poor little rat[who has been hammering my chicken food for the past six weeks] Or , Dispose of
  14. Interesting thread - i applied for .223 to shoot foxes , my permissions were fine with plenty of ideal land. My local force denied me a 223 and recomended a .22 - i reminded them that i needed a large round for shooting foxes. They rang me back and offered me a choice of .22 or .17hmr [as this was my first licence] i took a hmr thinking that this police force are insane ! shot loads of rabbits with it and got really accurate , found that it is good for fox at about 100yds have dropped dead every one i shot at. still agree that .17hmr is not an ideal fox round but does work with a degree of car
