  1. I have pm'ed admin, a few mods and asked them to all close my account. PLEASE CLOSE MY ACCOUNT. I DO NOT WISH TO BE ON THIS FORUM ANYMORE. If possible, please take away any evidence that I was on this forum (although I realise this may be impossible). I would like to leave The Hunting Life. That is all. :wallbash:
  2. Where we live, we don't have squirrels, rats, foxes, badgers, hares etc. We have rabbits and a few polecat. My terriers never see the vermin or animals yours do because they just don't exist on these islands.
  3. The cat's name is Fatsworth, if you are asking me! And yes, he gets his own food. No food here. He is a farm cat on good days and, no, our nearest neighbours (1 mile away) are not feeding him. Funnily enough I haven't seen our neighbours for ages!
  4. Karma. You hand it back quickly. There is no other answer imho.
  5. This cat eats from nature's buffet trolley. Wabbits is all he gets and he gets them himself, probably by rolling onto them!
  6. i have been thinking about getting a horse for a while but was looking for one that was already fully broken and a bit older, this mare looks too nice for the factory though, im not the rescueing type usually! lol ive got just about enough grazing for 1 horse so i'll go and take a good long look at this one! theres 3 nice riding mares there as well that i was also considering 10yr old, 12yr old and a 5yr old roughly 300-500 each You say you only have enough grazing for 1 horse. That does concern me. Usually horses do not like being kept on their own, especially if they are not used
  7. I rescued a pony from France. You can read his blog here if you are interested and you can contact me through the website - http://www.thordale.co.uk - if you want any advice. http://thordale.blogspot.com/ Like someone said before, if you have the space and the knowledge and the finances, then it is a good thing you are doing. It is also a huge learning curve and one I would do again, if I were healthy. I love our dear boy.
  8. Ok, when I say photoshoot, I mean plonking him on a friend's lap and placing said bling and taking 3 photos! Not quite David Bailey standards I admit. Painkillers - what do you want? I have everything. Boxes of the stuff just to keep me vaguely upright!
  9. They were just gently placed for the photoshoot!
  10. To be fair, I am confined to the house after massive back surgery! So, yes, I do have some time on my hands. Not allowed out. Not allowed to walk far, not allowed to do anything but take mind-altering painkillers. Take pity on me! (and the cat)
  11. He always has a bare belly this time of year from dragging his stomach over the stairs!
  12. I am looking at the Mick Cawston sale of art. What do you think? A good investment? http://www.sallymitchell.com/artists1.php?ai0=11&ti=10&alt=Publishers_of_the_Mick_Cawston_prints_cards_and_books.Paintings_available. http://i-bidder.com/forms/TimedAuctionList.php?eventid=1420
  13. Imho, terriers have a bad enough reputation as nippy, bouncy and a bit wayward. Actually dogs in the UK are slowly being eliminated by those that want a clean animal-free environment, but that is by the by. I saw this advert and my heart dropped. I have reported it to the ASA because, and apart from the kid picking on other kids with no obvious consequences (she is only told off for riding her bike in school), I just thought that is not something I want folk to see and to think it is alright to do. If you teased a dog like that in my house, it is perfectly entitled to bite you. Obvious
  14. Has anyone got one or used one? How did you find it? Did it recharge fully or slowly lose power and battery capacity over the months? I am thinking of getting one to use for foaling in the middle of the night in a huuuuge field. Looking for black Shetland ponies in the pitch dark in the drizzle at 2am is beginning to wear a bit thin!
  15. I too add a raw egg. Also competition gets them eating. My lurcher is picky and would wander off until the two terrier-vultures appeared and then he woofed his food in case they got it. Pilchards in tomato sauce, sardines in oil, herring, nice bones.
  16. Has she come into season? Bitches can go very "odd" in character and when you see the evidence, you suddenly realise what the change in her behaviour was all about.
  17. That's what my vet said too. My lurcher (and 2 Patts) have it most days. The lurcher is losing weight (he is 13) so I add a raw egg too plus biccies, obviously.
  18. http://www.(!64.56:886/pages/Beanie-for-Toto/108607452506608?ref=ts http://www.bbc.co.uk/dorothy/totos/auditions.shtml Please give your full support to this campaign. I have emailed the production company with suitable photos and left a phone message. Sadly we cannot get to the auditions but I am hoping they will be so impressed with her riding skills, they will realise that she is the only dog (and maybe pony) for them!
  19. Living up here in Shetland, quarry is rather few and far between for my dogs. Yes, there are rabbits everywhere (not exactly a challenge) and the odd mountain hare (I discourage that tbh). But apart from that, we don't have much else - no foxes, occasional rat and polecat types. So, I was very pleased to hear that my 3 dogs (1 ancient lurcher and 2 patts) dug up a polecat behind an old door in a shed and between them, killed it. The Patt dragged it out and they passed it round between them and then all finished it off. It was not easy, it took them a while and it certainly was not
  20. Mine have pilchards in tomato for breakfast very often! They love it and when my lurcher had an operation on his cruciate ligament a few months back, the vet said his joint was absolutely fantastic considering his age (13) and he had the joints of a youngster. All that oily fish!
  21. Mine was a Pac DXT model - for two dogs (wish I had got three on it). http://www.paccollars.co.uk/prod/pactrainer_DXT.htm About £250. Cost a bomb, they have gone up in price but totally money well spent imho. It was that or watch my dogs get shot. I had a back operation so had to rely on someone else to walk them too and the whole situation was becoming quickly potentially disastrous. I would have loved to have trained my dogs better but a terrier's mind, once set, is a very difficult thing to get through. The red mist descends and that is it. They're sticking two fingers up a
