  1. Cheers guys have to ave a look, it`s always nice to know what`s going on.
  2. Bit of a odd question but does anyone know of a good magazine for ferreters? The latest shooting times had a bit but I have only bought it once as I normally buy airgun world (my transition from airguns to ferrets was quite recent), cheers.
  3. I remember I was shooting one day and I was walking along a hedge looking over it at the quarry in the fields, and out of nowhere a big ldv van with a chimney on top plled up with hippies in it. They were having a go about how people like us damage the countryside and they are trugging around in a old van with more smoke coming from it than the flying scotsman, I was like just go and chill and smoke some jamaican woodbine. Anyways I caught them parked in a field so it took the massey 390 and parked awkward by the gate and they got stuck.
  4. Ai your right bramble, I was on a site that were talking about putting clothes on ferrets and stuff, and when I mentioned hunting they went ballistic. To be honest a ferret would not be my ideal pet, a fluffy hamster would. To me a ferret is a working animal that has a good trait and can provide for you. My mate went to the rspca rescue to get a stunning nearly all black hob to work and breed to try and get the colours, and they went ballistic about ferreting and hunting, it`s like what??
  5. Ye i suppose I was a kid when i had some nut on holiday in the village I used to live shouting at me I was only 14 so I wasn`t happy plus he called me compo of last of summer wine. This forum is superb, there is only a small community were i live so there is only a couple of us ferreting, but I can get bang on info from you guys on here. Don`t suppose you know of a good hunting magazine that contains a lot of ferreting? Shooting times had a bit last week from simon pakfield ferrets.
  6. Just to clear up any misunderstanding as I said before, My dad would get me grown on ferrets that had a distemper jab. I have never owned kits before so I dont want to "spoil" them. As all my previous ferrets were good workers, I stopped ferreting when I started toying with air rifles, but it`s not the same buzz as using ferrets, Ferreting is like having a gun with a unique humurious personality that points itself and shoots itself. Because it`s such a traditional thing were i live out in the country. Does anyone get stick? Just because when I was younger me and some mates were working some fe
  7. Cheers for that, How much does sniping cost roughly? And another thing as reading from your post you seem like a pro what do you think of ferret finders, as I met a guy with a eu polecat the other day who had a 7 metre string attached to the collar and used a ferret finder. But he said its pants working hedges and banks as you cant dig above some of them.
  8. Cheers for the advice butty, My mate with a pointer is going to get me some rabbits for them. Tell me if what lines i am thinking on is right, If I get my hob friday, keep him with my jills, around dec see if he`s ready for the snip, Get another hutch, get the snip done and then re introduce after 2 months. I just don`t want to balls. I dont want to end up with more kits cos I will end up keeping them, lol. Cheers again for advice that is bang-on. The old boy I deal with and do a bit of ferreting says that advice from the ferreters mouth is pedigree proven through and through, he is spot-on.
  9. Sorry stubby, My dad had a mate with ferrets and he would give me a 1-2 year old that had had a distemper jab and had been sniped or neutered. Cheers
  10. Cheers for more info, its not straight forward mind is it? Looks like i will need another hutch then soon, can i introduce him as soon as i get him to the jills and just keep an eye on them until the season comes? Or do I need to keep him away from the jills altogether until he gets sniped. And another thing is when I handle the kits they go mental and want to nip me, as were my old ferrets from before were quite content in my hands. Do they calm down? It`s quite funny at the time mind. .
  11. Cheers for the advice, I dont plan to have any litters and I only have one hutch, Should i get my jills neutered or something? I thought by getting a vasectomised hob it would be cheaper than having my jills done every year. And any advice on the distemper jab. Its just the scariest thing ever would be a litter next year as I dont have the time or money for them at the mo,(just bought a house). The lucky thing is i have roughly 240 cres of forest and farm land in my garden. So as to working the buggers im alright. I dont want to come across clueless but I have never had care issues with my fer
  12. Hi all. Im new to this site so I wonder if some of you guys can Help as the conversation on here is so much better than any other forum that talk about ferrets as pets not working animals. I have just got back in to ferreting after roughly 6 years. I have always owned 1 ferret at a time and because I was young my dad used to get them for me and they were grown on and had all there jabs. Right at this moment in time I have just aquired a pair of 13 week old jills, I have been spending several hours a day with them getting used to kits not big old ferrets. My problem is I am picking up a beautif
