  1. They ususally point on their own, our GSP's would be pointing small birds etc naturally before a year old in their kennels. I would just give it time.
  2. Lice or keds? http://cc.oulu.fi/~inverteb/pics/deerked.jpg
  3. That would be a mekong catfish then, you must have one big fecker of a pond!!!
  4. You are shooting at cubs inside a vixen i take it??? There will be NO cubs above ground in march, they havn't been born yet nevermind running around weaned It was probably last years cub and still not been shot at till you missed it This is how a cub looks at about 6 weeks old and above ground by it's den, if it looked like the pic then it was a cub if not it was an adult fox http://www.uksafari.com/jpeg2/foxcub2.jpg
  5. Tut tut tut You might wanna edit that post for the legal bullet weights, last time i looked 100 grain were legal on reds, not 75grains 75 grain BT's must blow a munty to bits anyway If i had to choose a rifle out of the two it would be the .243, .270 is not a round i've ever enjoyed using.
  6. You've knackered it now! Theres not many deer in wales as the welsh shoot or dog every bloody one they see coming over the border! Now you've told everyone they will be out in force looking for it!!
  7. I did woodwork at school but i'm still shite at it! Some folks just aint good at it including me!
  8. £10 per hole. Mole trappings a sport now so people will often do it for free, I would love some trapping permission. Are you mad?? £180 to trap a golf course?? How did you work that one out?? I doubt many golf courses would have someone with no insurance etc doing trapping for free.
  9. Pick up your toys and get back in your pram Theres NO true scotsman that would support england in ANY competition!! Get over it it's a bit of tongue in cheek that as usual the english can't handle
  10. A nice laminated stock is a bit of a comprimise and much better looking! Can't stand a plastic stock, looks too much like a toy gun to me Wood for me everytime, never had a problem with wayward bullets from a warped stock It would only warp in continued wet use anyway, funny how it's only magically started warping stocks in recent years
  11. How many gamedealers use em???? None that i've known or worked in and they do hundreds in a day at times. Plus it takes two to skin properly on a cradle whereas 1 guy with a winch can do a hanging beast alone My ex headkeeper reckoned the cradle was the fastest way to skin a red so he challenged me to a race, me with 1 hanging and 2 of them on a cradle skinning. Needless to say i beat them and it was just as clean a carcase Think i'll stick to skinning them hanging ta
  12. It will never be a permanent solution but thats a good thing as drey poking is a fantastic day spent in the woods!!! better than any pheasant day thats for sure!!

    New Knife

I woulda gone for an opinel personally, £20 for an everyday knife is too much to spend for me. I have a few very nice knives, including a lovely finnish one i picked up in lapland 2 weeks ago, but my opinel is always sharp and to hand. The bonus is if i lose it i won't worry, i'll just get another and know it's a good knife everytime
  14. No need for a cradle for skinning any uk deer, they can all be done easily and cleaner hanging up!
  15. salty water has always dealt with any rat bites my russell has had. He bites them first now though
  16. They may have released some on alladale estate, theres some loony thinking he can recreate the old scotland with bears, wolves and christ knows what else onto his estate to attract tourists His great plan is a self managing deer population etc Think i'll stick to a rifle http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSL2565017420080603
  17. It's a lab so treats in a pouch will soon have that lab coming back when it learns that a recall means food, then just refuce the number of times it gets food and replace with plenty praise instead. Takes a while but will work
  18. You and every other shooter in lincolnshire too Go knocking doors if you want land...thats how the rest of us do it i'm afraid
  19. simply because people will pay it! I dont agree with trophy fees etc, it should be a straight forward price, if you happen to get an old shootable medal/good buck then why should you pay more for it! It should be costed for the day or agreed cull animals to be taken. When i've taken people or gone on another patch of ground its always been paid for by the day not any of this trophy fee bollox....trophy fees are simply greed rather than herd/population management
  20. does the plate catch on the metal at the front of the trap? A bit of tweaking with pliers will sort that out, or file the trigger a bit to make it slip easier.
  21. If the ass has gone green then get rid, if not then they will be fine
  22. 100quid for a jrt is a fair price but delivering too is a bit much, 100quid and buyer collects or 150+ delivered that sort of distance. I know i wouldn't pay more than 100 quid for a jrt or any terrier for that matter. Any more is just greed, don't breed em if you dont have buyers or can't sell/give em away. I have to laugh when i see pups for sale at 250 quid + in the paper
  23. So how does that work then??? Tears are salty water??? Eye washes are saline solution(salty water). If you are using too much salt in a homemade saline solution then obviously that would cause a problem but a mild mix would be perfectly ok i'm sure. Never been a problem with my terrier.
  24. As they are ground nesting/living birds they emit very little scent and can taste nasty in a predators mouth. It dosn't pay to advertise yourself to predators if you live on the ground many dogs cannot/will not pick em due to so little scent and the taste of them
  25. Sorry that really made me giggle! For an ex para he seems to be full of shite musta forgot to open his parachute and landed on his head if he's been telling that rubbish to you Armour piercing rounds have a silver coloured tip (not a soft lead silver tip) FMJ's are available in many calibres for target shooting or as mentioned for minimising damage to pelts for fur shooters.
