  1. Not a bad bonus fish. I had one similar size last weekend on a dead bait right under my feet, was great to see it stalk and hit the fish in no more than 18 inches of water!
  2. They are only made of mild steel , i had to drill a few extra holes in a brattonsound one , no problem at all , just use a normal metal drill bit. Well i tried to drill mine and it blunted 3 new quality normal metal drill bits and half deafened me with the screeching noise before i gave up. mine was having none of it!
  3. Any around now will be resident birds, the ones from the continent don't arrive until first moon in november usually as the weather will be colder on the continent freezing the boggy ground they feed on.
  4. Best of luck drilling a gun cabinet! They are designed so you cant drill into them easily. Very tough steel! Would be easier to buy a seperate cabinet 2nd hand for the shotties or a cable that can be padlocked seperate to the cabinet like a securicable.
  5. Sounds like the dog has been scratched by a live rabbit and will now crush any rabbit to make sure it's dead before it carries it. My lab did it with cock pheasants, got spurred once when young and crushed EVERY cock pheasant, nothing else, for the rest of his working life. Imagine having rabbit claws scratch your face and you can see why it does it.
  6. Sounds like a young dog? I use a rubber ball on a rope to tire out my russel, he would do it all day given the chance. Tires them out nicely, once he starts not wanting to chase it it's time to go home 45 mins is more than enough and mine is fit as anything free running won't tire him out as he potters around.
  7. Not gonna be anything at this time of year Try beating on a few estates and ask around, most keepering jobs are found in feb/march time after the season has finished
  8. Yep caneston will sort it if it is ringworm
  9. Best place to weather a mole trap is in a mole run
  10. are they safe to use in dogs? theres certain anti-histamines you shouldnt give a dog. check the active ingrediant if its same as piriton or benadryl its safe to use and will save you a few quid. my vet gave me 50 prednisolone tablets for £2.00 so i use them now for allergic reactions works alot quicker than anti-H and reduces the swelling really quickly. atb Yep they are fine for the dog
  11. Supermarket own brand anti histamines are only a quid or so for a pack, bollocks to paying 3 or 4 quid for piriton or benadryl
  12. Past their best by the look of them! Get a good mushroom ID book and spend time with someone who knows their fungi cos some those things can make you very ill or kill you! Many species look almost identical. Does look abit like a roll rim http://www.mushrooms.org.uk/displayprods.asp?sid=40&qdbquery=searchprodbysubcat&qtitle=Paxillus+Involutus Take this one, 1 can be eaten the other 3 described look very similar and can make you very ill. http://www.wildmushroomsonline.co.uk/Identifying-Edible-Mushrooms-The-Chanterelle/1.php Some tips http://www.wildmushroomsonline.co.uk/How
  13. Environmental health department in the local council could be the answer especially if it's a council house.
  14. Do not encourage him around holes and it shouldn't show much interest in entering much. I use mine bushing/beating and have never encouraged him to enter any holes in the ground, he will have a sniff at the entrance but never enters as all he knows is his quarry is above ground. Comes from working parents too I'm not saying it will work for every terrier but it works for me.
  15. Will an air rifle require reproofing like a firearm after it is threaded for a mod?
  16. Double strand electric fence around the pond at low level and a slightly higher strand above that will give any wandering predator a bloody good scare and should keep em off. Make some wet muddy areas around the pond that will show up any footprints left by the culprit. A fox trap may be worth trying, that would pick up any otter/mink travelling through too.
  17. was thinking the same thing! Looks too much like a bird box for me
  18. Yep i heard that too, thought i was hearing things! He is a prize tool but hey he got his pocket lined by the anti's for doing it
  19. Quite possibly fact. http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/genus/Mallomys
  20. it will be fine, use some clear line for hooklinks.
  21. Barley. The dross from the driers when the harvest and drying has finished is exellent for ducks too!
  22. A predator would be spooked off by the quad leaving it's prey behind. A rabbit especially young ones will sit very tight in long grass, the old i can't see you so you can't see me trick Also if you were between a rabbit and it's burrow it will sit till you go past. I suspect you are worrying about nothing.
  23. Have you tried skinning one to look for damage? It could be anything killing them, stoats, buzzards, foxes etc. They will sit tight in long grass so even an inexperienced dog can catch them pretty easily nevermind an animal/bird trying to survive.
  24. They will be taking a commission off the exchange so you will get less back. In future buy from a place where they will buy the currency back with no commission if you get it from them.
