Sounds to me like you need to make sure the scope is sat correctly and tighten the allen bolts a bit more. You won't damage the tube.

Perfectly ok for the odd gull now and again just not for removing loads.

I will say it again, an airgun is NOT suitable for the LARGE SCALE culling that you will need to do if you hope to make any impact on the population. A shotgun with suitable cartridges is the only way to get numbers down if you intend to shoot them. Shooting during your breaks won't even touch the population if it's as bad as you say it is A gull distress call/ scarer will work to an extent.

Dispatching deer using a knife through the Atlas joint
ratattack replied to bullmastiff's topic in Deer Stalking & Management
If practiced on enough dead deer it is pretty simple to deal with an injured deer that has been hit and not able to get away by severing the spinal cord. Covering the head is a good idea. The atlas joint is for paralysing the deer so it cannot thrash around, it should then be stuck in the heart through the soft area at the base of the neck allowing a quick and near enough painless death. Cutting it's throat is hardly a good way to deal with it if people are nearby who will of course be watching what you do! Every mobile phone has a camera/video function these days It will probably lead to -
You will need to prove all other avenues of control have been tried before shooting any gulls. Bird scarers or A large hawk flown regularly by a bird handler would be a useful start. An airgun is not suitable for large scale culling of large gulls. You need to try the hawk really. There is bound to be someone who flys hawks that can do this for you, it will be the only real viable option. Diseases can be spread by the droppings along with a slip hazard when they are wet, the birds can become agressive during breeding season too. good reasons to cull or at least limit their time on site.

I always walk with a stick when out with my dog for just this type of situation. Has taught a few dogs like that one a lesson or two over the years Perfectly acceptable to walk with a stick and use it in self defence or protecting your dog from attack.

And another one jumps on the mole trapping bandwagon thinking it is easy! It can be more time consuming than you think at times and farmers are quite the task master if you've offered to do it for free!! Do you even know how much a mole trap costs or how many you will need?

I would say you buggered it, a dog should only be allowed to hear a shot from a long way off initially ie: 100yards+ to gauge how it reacts then gradually closer till you can shoot over them, this can take a while. My terrier loves goin shooting but hates fireworks. Imagine how a shot sounds to you then consider a dogs hearing capabilities, is ait any wonder he shat himself!!!

I would litter the areas being worked with traps and make sure they are set properly. The deeper runs are where he will be spending his down time. The top tunnels are feeding tunnels which is why he is all over the place.

A good day out by the sounds of it. That is a lean looking 9lbr! Be cracker with some weight on it. Went out last sunday and tickled a nice fish at 15lb 4oz on a lure, no runs on deads all day!

I've had squirrels active at night, not as much as rats but still activity. If setting a live catch then a method of dispatch should be a priority before setting any live catch trap. Drowning is not suitable and illegal, if caught doing this you could end up with a criminal record. 4 x fenns wired to a beam in the loft baited with peanut butter will soon sort them out. Squirrels often ball the insulation up and make a nest this is the best place to place the trap....right in their bed

Wanted Driven hare shoot day in scotland
ratattack replied to Mesarya's topic in Fieldsport Opportunities
did the ticks suddenly appear after coursing was banned.i must be lucky ive never seen a tick on a whitey yet. Another constructive comment for the thread Nothing to do with coursing being banned. You may not have been in an area that has a heavy tick problem. I've seen plenty white hares with lots of ticks on them, hence the hares being shot. -
Wanted Driven hare shoot day in scotland
ratattack replied to Mesarya's topic in Fieldsport Opportunities
From what i can see the OP is after a days driven WHITE hare. This is totally different to the larger BROWN hares that all the dog men claim to own! Very few DOGMEN will ever run a white/mountain hare as where they live will not be suitable to run with a dog White hares are shot mainly for the control of ticks on grouse moors which can really affect grouse stocks by ticks infesting the young birds. All hares on shoots i've been on have gone to the Game dealer to go to france. Get your facts striaght before posting negative shite. It's not difficult shooting but essential for maintaining a -
You may have missed it. A neck shot could only wound without damaging a major blood vessel/spine. It sounds like it knew you were there it may well be dead not far away having been running on adrenaline and bled out further away but only one way to know. Personally i would've taken the head shot as even if low there is still neck to hit.

Great place, good weather, good food, cheap gold etc go to the souks for allsorts of stuff but mainly jewellery. Just don't f**k around over there as you will soon be in jail, a mate of mine went and ended up in jail for taking photo's of places he shouldn't have, told him not to but hey he learnt the hard way. Don't get pissed up and be loud rude in the street....1 way ticket to jail...don't be rude to their women...another ticket to jail...They also don't like lewd acts in public, kissing or anything more than even holding hands is frowned upon! Play by their rules and you will be f

Millions are starving throughout the world, homeless and elderly here in the uk need food land it and give it to the soup kitchens etc instead of binning it! Like hugh said last night there would be uproar if half a farmers cattle/sheep were slaughtered and dumped in the road/field to rot! Parts 2 and 3 are on tonite and tomorrow

I may know of an opening with a large national coming up soon. They would put you through the training, don't expect it to be all ferreting, killing rats and moles though. It can be like any job...pretty boring looking in bait box after bait box after bait box. I'll have a check and let you know in the next few weeks.
