I wouldn't run them down mate. They usualy do what they are bred for, but don't expect them to be taking Fallow, like some on here say they can !! LOL !! Good luck, and have fun with your dogs .
Cheers.
Done plenty of homework on this cross that's why I went for it just a small rabbiting dog is all I want but beddy whips seem to crop up on here all the time n some arnt to favourable probs worriying over nowt alwas do full research on what type I need don't want a big dog so this type seems to fit what I'm after just reading a lot of posts on here lately n some are running this cross down abit cheers
If you have had Lurchers and Whippets before, surely you don't need to be asking this question ? Did you not do a bit homework and checking BEFORE you got this cross of dog ?
Cheers.
Hello all question I have a first cross beddy whippet she's 7 months old so will be starting her off in a few months time I've had other lurcher types and pure whippets in the past I mainly do ferreting a bit of shooting with the air gun and lamping how do u think she will fare its the lamping bit I'm thinking mainly as seen posts on here about this cross some say good some say to slow cheers all
Northumberland is tough no matter what age u are tried there myself all keepered. The permish will probs go to beaters or people like that on the inside so to speak try n go to some small time farms n stuff
Got a first cross bitch wouldn't recommend this cross for a first timer had lurchers n whippets but she's definitely the most stubborn recall can be a nightmare throws a def un or just refuses to come back sometims other times she's fine just when she feels like it I think
Happened with my last dog he was a whippet was playing with the guys labs shot past him taking him strait out flipped him up smacked his head when he came down was a bit dazed luckily sort of new him through walking the dogs so was ok bout it but can easily happen a mean a little whippet knocking a 14 stone man in the air just shows with the speed how much power they have aswell
My old whippet was a bit of a pain at that age was considering getting him the snip but stopped myself sorted himsilf out when he was about 12 months old just got to get through it mate most pups r a pain at some point got a beddy x whippet bitch 7 months at moment n she's doing my head right now not being pushy r anything just stubborn some good days some bad just got to ride it out
Don't get paranoid by reading about big bags on here and in mags those r in certain areas like where I run my dog hard going probs 1 out of 3 ratio but ran him in places where rabbs were abundant n hardly missed depends on land u run don't worry about it sounds perfectly normal what your dogs doing
Got a 6 n half month old beddy whippet pup her retrieving and recall was sound untill about 2 weeks ago now they've both gone tits up on recall sometimes she comes other times she just stands 10 yards away n looks at me really p!@+ing me off is this the norm with beddy types r just mine also she's standing at 18tts at moment how much bigger can I expect she's a first cross cheers paul

Got a 6 month old pup at moment trainings coming on ok only for
rabbits like looks like she's pacy enough still got lots of growing/maturing to do but coming on nicely
I think the words point and slip merchant get used by these people who think they r better than they are think some people try to over complicated lurcher work
