  9. If you are shooting with this dog jumping up is a definate no no geting your clothes muddy is the least of your worries . If you have a loaded gun in your hand and the dog jumps up gives you a fright resulting in a possible gun accident or jumps up on anyone with a gun , it could catch the trigger and kill someone IT HAS HAPPENED. Stoping this dangerous habit is something you should do straight away, simpley lift your knee every time the dog jumps up to you he he will connect with your knee and soon stop. I dont mean you should ram your knee into his chest just raise your knee quickly he ban
  10. the dog is probably at the ideal age to be sent to a pro trainer i start most dogs at about 8 months old it of course varies from dog to dog . It also depends on what you have done with the dog ,if it has only beeen socialised thats fine. Dont beleive the stories that when you get your dog back it will be wild . The ones that go wild is down to the owner thinking thats it dog trained it stays trained forever even if it is never out the kennel for weeks at a time. Pick your trainer carefully usually best to find other people who have used them and get some feedback. Good luck.

I spent a lot of time recently E-mailing Scottish MSps regarding the damage to the undocked dogs in my kennel and invited them to come with me on a shoot day and prove to them that undocked tails get damaged avery day and dogs with docked tails receive no damage. 20. I had a similar problem with a lab bitch a few years ago ,she almost took the dogs face of on 2 consecutive days . The bitch would stand let the dog lick around backend lick her face but when he climbed on to mate she spun round with a flash of teeth snarling like hell, we then carried out a forced mating where we put the slip lead on her neck the normal way and wraped the remainder around her muzzle more for my safety than anything else I then put my arm under her belly to stop her siting down the dog then got on with the job and a litter of eight pups were born 63 days later . Not an ideal
