If my memory is correct i am sure Peter Fraser and other experts in this field including im sure the Scottish Gamekeepers Association warned them they could not acheive this cull and the most areas would be cheaper and more efective if they deer fenced they areas concerned . As is the norm in this country the goverment and local athorities never liston to the people on the ground with decades of experience they would rather liston to the RSPB and the like SNH were well warned this would happen. Aye Rakeaboot I agree with you im not seeing any signs of dogs just tyre tracks and footprints through fields.
-
As for proof your probably right i cant prove anything but vehicle tracks through fields ussually means somone is about that shouldnt be . And any man who knows his ground knows when something is not right and after not seeing any deer at all for a week or so, and none in the usual places and after asking the farm workers if they are seeing any they are not. Yes i do know the deer are being pushed out or poached . With three thousand acres to cover, at night I cant be everywhere at once ,so when the farm workers offered a hand i said yes. A couple dead roe kids doesnt mean a poaching problem

Thanks for the support guys ,the boss has put a definate no on tackling this lot, he is going to contact the wildlife crime officer,i dont know what they can do but its his call. iIhave still not seen them only the evidence that they have been . The roe fawns i found one looks like its starved awfy thin and lying couched up in a place ive seen it before the other looks like its been raged by a dog it could have been a ramblers dog never know . They were a couple of miles apart. Keep smiling Hoolit

Do we all have times in this sport off ours when we think every hand is turned against us , ive got the birds sorted out in the pens even managed to piss of a couple of buzzards with balloons then some arse nicks my quad an old thing worth butttons ,i was toiling without it but have managed to borrow an alternative . Now it seems i have deer poachers on the estate, three out four tennant farmers on the estate have reported tyre tracks in sown fields lights at night and ive found two dead roe calfs. Ive been out on a nightly basis for the last week but so far nothing no sign of them also n

Just wee update on the balloons they seem to work ok ,i had to replace them on wednesday ,i got a couple of plain white ones and painted big eyes on them so far so good. i spent a bit time last night watching a couple of buzzards soaring up and down a wood where i have a pen and on seeing the ballooons there is a definate effect ,they dart away from the pen old tam says its because the face on them looks like me . I was at a party last week and when we went back to the hall to tidy up the day after there was 4 of those big gas filled gold coloured balloons very reflective and being a tight fisted git i thought i would recycle them by reusing them as buzzard deterers and ive got cds on strings over parts of the pen but the ballooons are working great so far . I watched the buggers yesterday as they flew into the wood to land on a particular tree ,the second they saw the ballons they were gone ,was it their reflection or purely because it was something new in the area i dont know but so far so good. I

When you think of it you spend more time looking through your Binos than you do looking through your scope. Im still using a pair of 30 year old binos that were given to me by an old stalker friend and they are on their last legs. I will try and get a pair at this years Scone game fair hopefully without the war department spoting the price tag. Keep smiling Hoolit

did you christen it ?? I couldnt get out last night as i had planed a small emergency with a cocker chasing sheep ,it was clients dog that i trained a few years ago but as usuall they get the dog back and let its training slip a bit. I have worked this dog for a few months on a pheaseant shoot and a couple of days on grouse and it never bothered sheep at all ,it was retrieving among them no problem before ,his wife was in a state as the herd said he would shoot the bugger if he catches it again, its now lying in the kennel looking really pissed of. I hope to get out before the end of the
