  1. Alright lads, I am thinking of getting some ferrets instead of a working terrier(i had asked some questions in the terrier forum previously), as my permissions would be very keen for me to make a bigger dent in their rabbit pop, but without the dippy townie neighbours calling the police thinking i am badger baiting. Also, i was advised to that the ferrets would be much better at flushing rabbits than a terrier. I am reading up at the mo, and want to build / make everything I can myself, to save money, e.g. box, hutch and purse nets (the nets will be the most diff i reckon). To that end, d
  2. Maybe mate, but don't you have to them neutered otherwise breed the jills. Or they get sick, i have no outlet for loads of working ferrets. And they won't eat nice convenient working dog food, i will have to feed them my rabbits. Plus i would have to build a hutch and keep them outside I know they are very good for rabbit bolting though. Cheers, G
  3. u wont go far wrong with a well bred russel. i do ok rising them 4 my lurchers watch out theres alot of shit about tho Thanks , to all you guys who replied, looks like the jack and parson are the best contenders. Thanks for the advice. The only problem is getting a good one from an actual working line in kent. I fear they will all be lap dogs.
  4. Cheers for the advice waidman, so has ther parson worked out well? I bet it will be very diff to find one down my way though, atleast one with a brain, (not that show dog rubbish). Did you work your jagd's in the UK? I thought they were impossible to get over here. Cheers again, G
  5. Nice dog, even better work. Envious.......very envious. Haha
  6. Cheers steviemann, is bushing just flushing from dense cover, as opposed to from warrens / earths? and after I have just asked such a thick question, could you advise good books on terriers and working them, i know all advice held in older books will have to be modified to fit the retard ban, that blair and his parasites scurried through, in direct opposition to the feelings of the people. the book might save me asking more amateur questions haha. best and thanks for the reply, Guy I'm sure if you use the seach facillity on here you'll save money. Well known auther on this site
  7. What a blinder of a dog, well done mate! beautiful country, beautiful sport. G

  9. Hi Half and half, thanks for the advice, if the dog comes back to the surface i get the impression that the fox won't be, right? The other thing is, finding the real plummer, I hear they are quite hard to find. do you keep and work plummers? and would you recommend any good books on the training and techniques of working terriers? I would love to get a jagd terrier, but i think i have more chance of getting hens teeth in england than one of those dogs. Cheers for your reply, Guy
  10. Hello all, I am 25 live in kent, have been a keen fisherman all my life, have messed about with airgun for the last 8 years and been a keen shotgun user for the last two nearly three. I am teaching myself the subtle art of setting a wire at the moment, and am keen to get into working terriers to flush rabbits and charlies (to my gun) and hopefully get the little chap in amongst the rats. G
  11. Hello all, Probabley going to open a can of worms here, but...... I am a keen rough shooter/ wildfowler. most of my shooting consists of rabbits, pigeons and foxes with the shotgun. I am currently teaching myself snaring aswell. I would love to get a terrier to bolt rabbits and foxes to the gun, and some ratting if i can get it. Am I dreaming that there might be an ideal working breed out there for me? Cheers for your help, G
