Nice looking dog ryan, as you say plus he is doing all the work you ask of him. What more could you ask of him ;-) I had never considered such a cross for earth work, but then I am a novice. quality pic. all the best for the season.

I think it's quality that you spent the day ratting with a freaking elvis mask on. If you didn't wear the mask all day, don't tell me, it would ruin the brilliant image. all the best G

If ypo know nothing about them or what they are for DONT GET ONE as somebody already said they are not for the faint hearted. What will you do if he starts to kill a dog or starts pulling out of livestock.Wheatens are best left to people with good experience of game dogs or else it ends in disaster. Now that is a fact.. Thanks to all who have replied and PMed. Learnt alot, now I realise what they are for, they are def not for me. haha much better of with something LESS likey to kill the neighbour's Alsation, rape the old lady over the road and set fire to the house ;-) once ag

Nah Mate don't even know you, It was a reference to the saying "entering to Earth" you know put the dog down a hole, and the fact that some people call buggery "taking the dirt track" soil earth....you know. maybe it was just a shit joke. no offence was meant. atb, G

Hey Guys, Thanks for taking the time to reply. I am new to working terriers, please I have never made any secret of that. All the questions i posted on here are to learn more about the breed. Why do I want one? you ask, well I like the look of them, isn't that the first thing that compells us all to a dog, the look? Maybe not, maybe just me. I have searched for hours for info on the computer about proper working wheatens, maybe I am not searching long enough ( all I can find is show and pet dogs info). Surely researching and asking like I have done is better than just rocking over to irela

Tesco and Bolio, thanks for the info on the diddycye line is the person (T.B. ) still breeding workers? Possibley a user on here? Regards, G
-
Hi guy's, A medium sized one would be good for my needs, not one of the big'uns. I am a bit confused, the diddycye line, is this a working line? I am only interested in working dogs really so the mulben would not really be my cup of tea. Thanks for the replies. Best regards, G

Brilliant pics, to the last, so i need to make a trip to the republic, no worries, any particular lines i should be looking for. Or counties with a good head of workers? What i am digging at is where to start? Any Irish lads on here with up coming litters? Thanks for all the replies & All the best, G

Hello, Could any one, give me advice on good working lines for wheatens. I understand that i am gonna have to make the trip to ireland for a good'un. Any advice would be really helpful. When i have searched the net all I get is lots about show dogs, not workers. All the best, G

Fell and Moorland Working Terrier Club.
guyliath replied to "Earth!"'s topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Good stuff,id suggest all newcomers to the sport certainly join but i must state, the FMWTC is NOT a digging or ratting club,if anything it is a rescue club for trapped/lost terriers in the ground etc Agreed. sorry if i misled anyone. ATB G -
cheers for that, molie1337. got a really low slung body on it eh. ATB, G

To be honest there where some. Most of the people there would be Glenn enthusiasts. It was a KC show. There was lure racing, shore work, weight pulling and obedience. Im trying to get them to do some bite work next year as an event aswell. There was colouring competitions for the kids and raffles. It was a good day out for the family. Really nice pics mate, seems a pretty rare breed. looks like its almost "bluish" on the coat. Were they bred for a specific task or general earth work? congrats on the win and all the best. G

Yes ! I beleive you need to be put in touch with the right stuff over here G. I have seen various crosses and all had no reverse gears.A great breed. Not at all saying a sound pup could not be obtained across the water but top breeders (and there are not many) are definately this side of the pond,H. Cheers hatcher, I see from what you are saying that they were game and hard ( the crosses), did they have any brains with it, or just smash up merchants? drop me a PM if you have a sec keen to know the good lines from ireland. All the best, G Plenty of brains in the Wheaten m
