  1. hello mate, If you are trying to upload photos, go to a website called "resize it" here is the link http://www.resize.it/ you can browse the pictures saved on your computer, choose the one you want on this thread, then resize it "200 x 200 pixels", save it to your computer and "so and so resized" and upload, using the upload options on the add reply function. It is very very quick and simply to do, honest! looking forward to seeing this greyhound whippet you have! ATB, G
  2. Hi All who asked, http://www.deerstalker.com/park_trophies.htm that is the link to the guys offering trophy Pere David, and Barisingha in Kent. I didn't make it clear but Yes they are Parkland deer. It is just an odd species I had never heard of before until i stumbled across the website. They are a tropical deer, so I am not sure how well they would do naturalising in the uk, so i think they will always be parkland. Too rich for my wallet, but i suppose it would be an unusual trophy. Oh yeah, please JDarcy put me down for a copy of the Deer / dog book! ;-) Atb, G
  3. There is somewhere in Kent with a population of barisingha. They charge , up to 5,000 trophy fees for stalkers. I had never heard of them until I came across the website, advertising it. Very interesting thread guys, G
  4. Where? Was is just poaching any game or specifically hares? If it was hares, was this under an operation called "Orchard" i have heard something about that on the grape vine. the suggestion was it was an "Anti Hare Coursing" excercise, down near the coast. The story i heard involved a farmer stopping a lad walking a longdog on a footpath, basically politely telling him that if he had designs on the hares he should not bother and go away. literally as politely as that. the fella did and within hours the area had a considerable amount of police around and some cars were searched. obviously
  5. But you're not going to do that in the U.K are you?!! You can't buy live pet rats to start your dog ratting in the UK. it's illegal. When you think the dogs ready, get it on wild rats, they are free! In reference to the weils disease, what is going to happen when your terrier is called on to rat for real, you could bet the first rat it deals with will be riddled with all sorts of disease. You as the owner have no control as to what diseases the rats are carrying. just the way it goes, with ratting. all the best with the pup. G
  6. Always nice to see a mink sorted. Nice scarf for the ladies. Atb, g
  7. Used chimney testing tablets, with a computer fan attached to a battery, to blow the smoke down. That worked ok, but you only get about 80secs of thick smoke. They do a silent oil burner / smoker, but they are dear, bout /90 quid I think though. Used both and they do bolt the rats. Atb, G
  8. Cheers old boy, When are we lamping those rabbits next :-) G
  9. What a Unit! Awesome looking beast. Did you name him after the famous game pit dog "old Tramp"? Though old tramp was a diff breed and colour, there is more than a fleeting resembalance about his face. Never the less looks the biz! All the best, G
  10. Looks a quality bit of kit. fair price considering how dear Brass is! all the best with the sale. G
  11. Hi All, Here are the pics as promised. The bow, is pretty self explanitory, it is sold "as seen" there is no sight and it needs a new arrow rest ( cheap plastic ones available from ebay for a couple of quid). The second pic is off the broadheads I discussed. These are pretty interesting in their own right. The two upper heads are in the closed or "Ready to fire" position. This makes them very aerodynamic, like field points. On impact the silicone ring breaks and the penetration forces the three large cutting blades into the open position, which creates a huge wound channel and d
  12. I am very interested in ferreting stuff, I would swap for a locator and collars. All the best, G
  13. Thanks for the comments guys, will photograph it this evening.. Atb, G
  14. Hi all, I am selling a 35lb draw recurve bow, with a camo finish. I am looking for £55.00 posted. For an extra £20 I can include 3 switchblade "hammerhead" broad heads. These were shipped in from the US, where they take quarry like wolves, deer and hogs with them. They will fit any aluminium shifted arrows. The bow is a take down, so it all unscrews for storage. It is a solid piece of kit. I suppose I better add a disclaimer, hunting with any bow in the UK is illegal, blah blah blah, don't be a bad boy..... I just had it because it was a cool thing to have. I will post pics tom
  15. Sounds a friendly farmer.....sorry for your dog.
  16. Hi leeview, I understand fully that the law says the hares, rabbits, and deer are the property of whoever owns the land. but I was saying that law is a joke. How can you or I "own" wild animals. I was having a little rant at a ridiculous law, not saying that they were in effect no ones property. Sorry I wasn't clearer.;-) All the best, YIS G
  17. Absolutely disgusting behaviour. I can imagine the damage a taunt wire would do to a longdog, never heard of it before now, but doesn't surprise me. Keepers / land owners were able to get away with horrendous traps / devices all in the name of "Protecting game", which in the case of hares, whatever the law says, are no mans property, they are wild game. Going further back in time but still on the subject, don't know if you guys have heard about the trip wire guns, (not alarm guns, but actual pistols, with a trip wire to the trigger)they used to be really common as late as the 1800s. and m
  18. Cheers mate. I will look up how much the sheet of ply costs. Thanks for your help. Atb g
  19. Quality build mate. Was it marine ply. What are it's dimensions? Cheers, G
  20. Hello all, I went and had a look at a 2storey hutch today off of preloved, for my first ferrets. Needless to say I didn't buy it, the couple wanted £30 for a hutch full of mud and chicken droppings. Should have been listed on a website called prehated. Any way I am gonna build my own now. Can anyone give me tips and hints on cheap materials and where I might be able to pick them up? I have plans for a couple of 4x2x2 hutches. One for a hob and one for a group of jills. I don't wanna spend the earth on materials. I am based in Kent. All the best, G
  21. Haha, yeah I did curse a bit. But really enjoyed it. Started a nylon one last night. So will see how that goes. Cheers for the encouraging replies. Atb, G
