  1. Waiting for my cabinet to arrive before putting my application in but seriously looking at a .22LR CZ Silhouette with a SAK although my mate who I go lamping with (using his Defender) doesn't want me getting a 16" as he has had his bonnet shot before. I think that will be fine, I initially looked at the 16" as I thought it would be easier jumping in and out of the 4x4 but I use his 20" Varmint at the mo and manage ok... and hey the 20" is cheaper. What made you change to the HMR in the end?
  2. Having both eyes open can help a bit with acquiring the target for day time shooting, for lamping I find I have to close one eye if I'm using a gun mounted lamp.
  3. CZ then! You can usually pick up second hand 452's, Americans or Varmints for around £100, new ones £250-£350. I wouldn't bother with the 453 the only difference is a set trigger which isn't much use for rabbiting. Lots of gun shops even do packages including a SAK Moderator (need a slot for this on your FAC tho), then it's a recoiless, virtually silent rabbit basher.
  4. Not sure if this helps but my local gun dealer said generally if you send in lots of requests to get different bits of land passed, they will usually grant an open cert very quickly as they don't want to do the surveys either. Annoying because it will cost you a variation but at least you're good to go then.
  5. I have a Forest Ranger (who has open ticket up to .308) and the owner of my permission (who holds an SGC) for mine.
  6. At the distance you describe, either will do if you can get a good clean head shot.
  7. Always amuses me, something gets added to the GL and non-shooters immediately say "Why are we culling x bird?" Think I read somewhere else that gulls (herring and black backed) have been taken off?
