  1. It sounds like this guy may help sort out your problems, but for me......I would join BASC......It gives you insurance.....and their legal team is second to none.....They would sort it out if it can be sorted......All for £75 a year
  2. If you fancy a side by side, I know of a gorrosabel 12 bore boxlock for sale.....35 mins south of you......Open to offers.....but I haven't seen it yet ....but I know the guy wants to sell up. I have been told its mint! But we will have to see.
  3. Sorry I have looked in your gallery and I can't find the pics.
  4. Sage, as instructed, I loaded the snap caps and started to drop test the gun...I couldn't get it to go off........I was as violent as I dared be and nothing......I tried mostly with safety off, but also tried with it on.......nothing.......Also , following our conversation, the trigger pulls seem fine.....neither too light or too heavy.....and both triggers seem to have very similar pull pressures. It has been sugested to me that perhaps I hadn't pulled the barrels down far enough.......so it was cocked but only just...........What do you think.........Anyways whatever else happens, its goin
  5. Hello Sage, thanks for the advice tonight, it was great to talk to you.....I have been out running errands all night, so I have not yet tested the gun with the snap caps, but I will tomorrow, and I will let you know the result. Many thanks for your time and advice. Best wishes Dave T
  6. Many thanks for the replies. My gun is a cogswell and harrison....its in very good condition.....It was tightened before last season and serviced the season before that due to a broken ejector......and I have shot approx 400 shots through it this season since it was tightened. It has never played up before(except for the ejector). Prior to the double discharge, the gun was a tad tight, and it must have moved a bit, as its now spot on.....but not off the face in any way....what are the chances of two double discharges in two seperate guns (My mates is a spanish boxlock) and holing and blowin
  7. On saturday I went to a local charity clay shoot with a mate of mine .....We are both rough shooters, and don't take the clays very seriously......I had 50 rounds with me and he had the same. We fired off mine first (Eley Hush Power), then we moved onto his.....My first shot with his ammo (SAGA 28gram Felt 7.5) was a double discharge.....almost took my flipping shoulder off....I finished off my round then my mate took the stand and he had a double discharge.....and then quickly followed by a primer being blown back into the firing pin hole on the breech face....effectively rivetting the g
  8. I don't think that Birds of Prey ingesting lead will be a real issue in the uk.........BOPs seem to be more numerous now that previously in my life time.......but thats not to say that the RSPB might try it on.......If only they would review the current lead ban.....and change it from a quarry based system to a location based system......surely it would be easier for them to police...
  9. Do you think that we on this forum are part of the "Inaccurate and alarmist reports that have appeared in the shooting press and on email concerning BASC's position on lead ammunition."...............................If the answer is yes, then perhaps BASC will take notice on how silly the quarry based ban is, as opposed to banning use of lead over wetlands. Nice to know that they are listening too.
  10. Just in case any one in South Wales is interested.....there is a clay shoot tomorrow at the Brondai shooting ground, Brondai Farm Gwynfe Llandeilo
  11. I find the whole thing sad....I have no doubt that we will see proposals for a total ban.......and where will that leave the ordainary guy who shoots maybe 50 shots a year whilst out walking the hedges etc......the chances are most guys have a bit of a stock so it will turn many of us into criminals.....or we have to pay out £1 a shot........Guys who pay £500 a day can afford to spend £75 on a days non-toxic ammo and most clay shooters in the main fire modern guns that could cope with steel shot.....but the poor old rough shooter..........I know its coming...I know we can't stop it, but it
  12. Why was our current partial lead shot ban based on quarry and not on location? Because I believe that a ban based on location makes more sense......and surely we have a right to expect BASC to have fought the case for the better solution. I do not understand?
  13. If whilst out rough shooting and a duck gets up off a splash, I have to remove my lead ammo and replace it with bismuth before taking the shot.....Why? The Irish model is much better where if shooting over wetlands you must use non-toxic....ie defined by location, not by quarry........RSPB and Wetlands trust claim people are breaking the law with lead.......possibly because its a crap law ....like hunting with dogs, pistol ban, coastal access, cage ban....all are crap laws that only hurt law abiding people, achieve little....and turn ordanary people into criminals......BASC don't you just l
  14. Does any one else here think that DEFRA are likely to propose a ban on LEAD....If they do, I bet you BASC will back them and that will be the end of that.....So all old shotguns will become redundant overnight.........or you pay £1 a shot for Bismuth or Tin......all of this is happening because some wild fowlers are still using lead over wetlands......and when it happens it will probably include a lead ban on clay shooting and on Air-rifle shooting too.....And its already happened in Holland.......so its less ammo for us and more ammo for the Antis
  15. OOPS Forgot to mention, my station wagon is a civilian chassis, but an ex army chassis would also be ok.
  16. Its my nearest game fair and we have gone for many years, and always have a great time.....always a good crowd too. http://www.welshgamefair.com/ This is the link for it and there are plenty of pictures in the gallery.....I would show you mine, but they are all of the kids (mine)
  17. You could try the finest wire wool you can get your hands on.....0000....and a lot of gun oil.....but be very gentle...and just do a little bit at a time......if you press too hard it wil remove the blue....
  18. Wanted, chassis for my poor old series 2/3 109 SW.....It doesn't have to be local (south west wales) or mint....but it needs to be cheapish.....I don't mind if it needs welding or has been welded as long as the main rails are solid.
  19. I do believe that the honerable gentleman may be correct.....
  20. Rifle or pistol....and what age is it (if pistol)?
  21. Have a look at this link on AirgunBBS http://www.airgunbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336904 It should answer your question.....on second thoughts, you might not get access so I will paste the article below.....hope it helps.....and I have not read it but it looks usefull To clear up any confusion on this subject, caused by Post Office staff thinking Royal Mail has discretion on whether it can carry airguns, please note that the RM regulator Postcomm ruled clearly in our favour in June 2005. Royal Mail is stuck with this decision like it or not. They must carry legal airg
  22. Now I come to think of it.....its a great film, but another example of bloody america re-writing our history.....so that they are the bloody heroes........But it was a great film and I enjoyed it far more than I expected. Nice range of guns on display too......
