  1. Price drop. £310 for rifle and £110 for mod both plus post costs
  2. Will split with the mod. After £130 for the P8
  3. I've realised I must let this beauty of a scope go. It's a Doctor 8x56 in very good working order. There are some ring marks, but that's it. Optically it's perfect - very good optical clarity and light gathering. Plex reticle. I'll include Leupold rings. The 243 Mauser pictured is for sale as well. I'm after £350 ONO + post or collection is fine. Cheque, cash or transfer, paypal is ok if you pay the charges!
  4. I have decided i need to sell my 243. It's a Brno BO98, based on a Mauser 98, factory reconfitioned and sportesized at the Brno factory in 2006 just before it was closed by CZ. I bought it new a couple of years ago, and it has fired under 300 shots. Mechanically including the barrel it's perfect. There is the odd scratch in the walnut though. It has a 1:10 22" barrel, 5round magazine, custom bolt spoon handle, bedded in Devcon steel putty and free floated, is threaded with 1/2"unf, has a scope friendly safety and a wide leather strap. Also has a single set trigger which is also fully adju
  5. Anybody have a Marlin in 45-70 or know where one might be for sale?
  6. I'm selling our enormous ex army type general service marquee. This is the classic british army design that was first used in the 1920s and continued until the 1980s. It is not hard to see why as it has great coverage and is very sturdy. It can be erected in 9' increments - so if you only wanted it to be 20x27' that is fine. These sections are all dutch laced together to the hips We bought this for our wedding which is on thursday. So by the time the auction ends we will no longer need it. The four middle sections were brand new when we put it up last week, and the two hips (ends) had been
  7. I am selling my classic Pecar rifle scope. It is a variable 4-10x45. Optics are in very good condition, body has signs of use. It has a steel tube with 1/4 MOA clicks and a German reticle. It does hold zero on my 243. This is a high quality German made scope comparable with new Zeiss, Schmidt and Bender, Swaro etc.. Lookg for 250 ono posted
  8. Reluctantly selling my trusty Leupold vari-x II 4-12x40 AO to make way for a Pecar. Optics are mint. body is pretty good but has a couple of marks - a rub mark on the eye piece due to a high bolt handle, and a small nock on front lens cover. It's a robust scope with a magnification range ideal for everything from rabbits to deer. Reticle is duplex. Has always stayed dead on zero on my 243. Zoom is smoothe and firm. Has the famous Leupold lifetime warranty. Classic looks and very high build quality. Looking for £195 posted ono
  9. I am reluctantly selling my faithful 22 mag. It's a Winchester 9422M made in 1975. This was the golden period for 9422s. They stopped making them a while ago and the 22 mags were apparently the best. It holds 11 + 1 in the magazine. With a scope it produces 1.5" groups at 90 yards with winchester super-x 40gr JHP. My longest shot is a hare at 110 yards - very good calibre for them actually. But I mainly shot rabbits. The stock has a nice new oil finish and looks great. However, there is the odd small dent. Also, the blueing is a bit worn - it doesn't look new! It is a very handy size a
  10. I have a pair of rings for sale. They are made by Millet and are solid steel. They are Redfield style turn in windage adjust rings. They interchange with Millet, Leupold and Refield standard bases, along with quite a few others. They are a solid reliable mounting system giving a very large windage adjustment range. They are in very good condition. The only marks are a very slight rust mark (feels smoothe) on two of the inside surfaces. They look brand new when fitted. I reckon they are very good looking rings! Only changing as I've altered the bolt handle so have gone down to mediums
  11. OK in case anyone is interested: I have solved the problem (I'm fairly sure)... It was the scope bases. I forgot to mention (in fact I'd forgotten entirely) the rear base holes didn't QUITE line up. I dressed them with a tiny rats tail and thought nothing else. But after putting this problem out therefor a while I got a PM from someone on another site who has the same rifle in 30-06. He had the same problem and symptoms and changed his bases, problem solved. I'm cheap though - and areldited mine. It was also at the same time my remmy 80gr pills ran out and have switched to Hornady 100gr RN
  12. Does it have to be Tikka? I'm not taking sides but my RFD was slagging off T3s saying they're not a patch on 595s and are "crappy". Like someone said A bolt's are cheap new and come in lefty. Not sure about t bolts, but x bolts don't. Then there's Winchester M70 to look at - come in lefty too. check out Branthwaites they have a bolts at 495 and M70s for 570 - http://www.abgunsmiths.co.uk/shop/rifles_new-rifles_winchester-rifles.html?osCsid=ee6468373eabdafdab063837294a568c I'm just getting my first CF - a 243. I was going second hand, from a big dealer who said money back if it's no good.
  13. I just had the visit from my FEO in Norfolk and he said assuming there were no problems I should expect it to take at LEAST a month more... The FEo contacted me fairly quickly in the first place though. Then he needed some prompting... And I won't be holding back on the hastling phone calls in the weeks to come
  14. how come 222 is so much more than 223? Surely they share the same bullets (mostly)? Also, have you ever done a breakdown of hornet? And does anyone ever consider casting their own bullets?
  15. this fills me with a optamism and a sense of hope
  16. It was David, and ot be frank I wish it still was - he sounded ok, if conservative. But I moved house about6-7 miles and it's changed to Roy Harbour. I hear he can be difficult, but we'll see... Good luck on yours too, sounds like your ahead of me wtih a 22/250!
  17. hmm, well going on that it is nailed! chashed cheque = variation. Well, maybe you should just let me believe that for the time being
  18. Well I got the impression it was going to be a bumpy ride. FLO tried to suggest I should wait a year or so to "get some experience" as he won't grant a mentoring condition as he says it's not binding. I insisted, politely and it came down to needing a couple more supervised stalks (or whatever experience in 2 weeks). I have two very helpful stalker friends who should be able to smoothe things over, but the FLO was still being reluctant. I'm expecting his call in another week, so I thought this was premature. But I've heard cashing the cheque can be sign all is clear...
  19. I just noticed on my account balance the police have chashed my check for my variation (243), does this mean they plan on granting it?
  20. good sounds position, might give that a go tomorrow. My shooting sticks (standing) are lengths of straight green hazel with a bit of pushbike inner tube holding them together like a rubber band
  21. I'm a bit confused here, I thought off hand was shooting with no rest. If so I reckon 4" at 50 yards is pretty good, and the limiting factor is likely to be your steadyness, not the rifle. In my case, I'd say I was better off hand with my air rifle than my 22WMR beause it is a lot heavier. Wouldn't off hand 50 yards though, I'd miss... Off a rest it's a very different story, you'd be better with a rimfire
