  1. The size shouldn't be an issue. my own personal experience is find a scope that has a long eye relief so you can push the scope forward but its still usable and comfortable when you take the add-on off.As for mounts some people prefer reach forward mounts, but it shouldn't really matter
  2. Try Clive Ward at nvscopes.com also give thomas jacks a phone on 01789 264100 and ask who might have one in stock.
  3. The Pulsar GS is better than the Cobra, out of 10 i would give the Pulsar 8/10 and the Cobra 6.5/10 thanks for your honest advice. do you know if there is a maximum calibre on which these units can be used. I would not want to be putting the Cobra or the pulsar challenger gs on anything more than a .223 but i do know people that have the cobra unit on a .243

  5. The Pulsar challenger is a good way into NV with extra IR you should be able to shoot out to to 100 yards depending on day scope what scope would you recomend.thanks for your help. Here is a list of some scopes that will do the job, it is best to get a scope with side or front focus. i have tried a lot of scopes and the maximum power i got to was a 6.5-24x50, the 1st and 2nd number on the scope is the most important, in most cases the lower the numbers the better the image AGS SWAT 4-16x56 AGS Compact 4-14x42 [not the 3-12x44 Compact SWAT?] AGS SWAT 3-12x44 Bushnel Ban

  8. The difference between the envis and pvs14 in easy terms is the pvs-14 has a better tube ie: Resolution(lp/mm) and is better built with a higher price tag, some info here on the main three units available http://pvs14.com/ The envis is a good unit, it has a image intensifier tube called a 10160 silver bullet, great tube if you can find one without a blemish here is a link https://gpssignal.com/ENVIS.htm You are shooting a 22-250 so the recoil isn't that bad so the envis would be ok, some people shoot this unit on a 243 and had no problems. You will be buying second hand so try to get as mu
  9. Come on Andy you know its all down to what image intensifier tube is fitted, both units are very much the same as to looks and spec but i do prefer the D480
  10. An add-on is good if you have more than one rifle you wish to shoot with at night, so if you go down this route make sure its weapon mountable as the envis and PVS-14 have different image intensifier tube fitted, this means that some image intensifier tube can not take the recoil, best thing to do is ask before buying and you will need the image intensifier tube number. A dedicated scope is good if you don't mind having one rifle to shoot with at night or have a good set of warne quick release rings so you can swap from day scope to NV, you are looking at one of these http://www.nvscopes.com/
  11. I would return the unit and say it doesn't do the job you require, have a look here about your rights http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_world/consumer_affairs/buying_goods_your_rights.htm#your_legal_rights_when_you_buy_goods it might be worth ago and than you would be able to purchase the right unit for the job.
  12. Andy the D760 has a different front lens and does not have a front lens support ring, here are some photos of the D760 and the D480, i have built enough of these unit to know what i'm talking about. This is the one on Ebay which is advertised as a D760 This is my D480 This is a D760 which doesn't have a front support ring
  13. The only thing that worry me about that its not a D760 its a D480 and if you are buying something at that price you should know what it is, all well and good the seller might have more money than sense and not know what he/she bought, some might say its a listing error good thing is you can pick it up as its in the UK and i for one would want to check it out 1st on a nice dark night away from any street or house light before buying
  14. The nvmt gen2+ 3x50 is what it is and you can NOT change the lens, if wish to take other advise please do, the easiest way is to phone Thomas Jacks on 01789 264100 who will confirm what i have said. Yes you are right Pest sorry sako thought you had a 3x42 No Problem Andy

  16. Yes the price tag PVS-14 around £2000 to £2500 the D480 around £3000 to £5000 both work well, if shooting off the shoulder, the D480 if shooting off the Land Rover the PVS-14
  17. Here are two set ups that i use. 1st in a Custom .243 with an IOR 6-24x50 day scope & a PVS-14 NV can see over 500 yards on the right night. 2nd is a Remington .223 with a D480 fitted with a gen 3 Pinnacle, again can see over 500 yards on the right night.
  18. I have the lightforce 170 x2 on my land rover with permanent ir lenses also a hand held unit (white light)for finding what i shoot and these are great, with the 170 x2 i can light up a massive area for NV spotting but would not want anything but the N1000 on my rifle.
  19. The 450mw LED IR illuminator is ok out to around 100yards its not that well thought of and most replace it with an IR laser like the N1000AP which will give you double the distance and more.
  20. AO means Adjustable Objective which does the same job as a side wheel to give you an adjustment for different magnifications and ranges and give you the best possible sight picture, its just a bit more awkward being on the front of the scope. If you can afford the variable power unit then get it, its good for close in work like near barns/tree etc... also giving you max distance on full power. you are saving the life of your image intensifier tube unless its digital as the least light the longer your unit will last.
  21. As an monocular its OK but for the price of these units you could of got a lot more for your money, you could do with a extra IR unit , i would go for a N1000 ir laser from nvscope.com price is around £110 or £145 for the adjustable power unit, he sells them on ebay as well Item number: 280610223693. With this ir laser and your yukon NVMT gen2+ 3x50 you should be spotting Mr fox out to around 250 yards + . As for putting it on a day scope this would be hard due to the 3x lens, you really need a 1x or 1.5x lens to put on to a day scope. The more you use your NV the more your eye will adjus
  22. To get the best out of any NV add-on you do need a scope with parallax adjustment, having this sort of scope allows you to get distance, it works the same way as it does in the day time, if you use your scope at say 75yards and then try to view at 150yards you will find you need to adjust the parallax to get a sharp picture, you can use a low mag scope without parallax adjustment but you only get a good image at a certain range usually around 30 to 40 yards, i tried this with an simmon 1.5x5x20 wtc which worked well. Hope this helps.
