  1. Thanks everyone, I guess it just shows what a disadvantage it is working a single lurcher with no busher?
  2. some of the pics people have put on here of dogs that look in crackin shape have more than 2 ribs showing.
  3. Do lurchers that are going to enter cover do so at an early age or is it something they learn to do with experience and the increased confidence that comes with catching prey? Mine is 13 months now and hasn't had that many catches yet. She's give it everything when chasing rabbits whether in the open or through woodland but if a rabbit is in brambles or disappears through nettles she usually won't enter. It's hard to say whether it's a problem or not as obviously at the moment the cover is a lot thicker than it will be come the start of the season. There's just been a couple of occas
  4. wouldn't have thought so to be honest.
  5. he's not on about that now...sounds like that's been resolved. He's on about them being bald.
  6. Wow! 10 ferrets working at once....surely no warren is big enough to need 10 ferrets? how many of you are there to keep on top of that? I could be wrong but I'd have thought that number of ferrets in one warren would be blocking off escape routes and virtually guaranteeing kills underground?
  7. His problem is not ignorance, but lack of discipline. When he is running and you call him, he decides that continuing to run is more fun than coming back to you. He needs to learn otherwise. I suggest the electric collar. Used appropriately - and you need to read the instructions - they work well. Discipline always seems "hard", but the better controlled a dog is, the more he will be able to hunt. Peter surely zapping the dog when it's chasing something is going to put it off chasing things????
  8. join the whippet forum, theres some crackin pics on there....really good shots!
  9. Took the mutt for a walk at about 9pm a couple of days ago, as I was walking along a country lane I had a quick glimpse over the hedge and there were probably 10-15 rabbits sitting out in the middle of a small field that I cut through quite regularly. Just as I was about to nip over the turnstile at the far edge of the field to give my dog an easy run at one I notice a fox sitting at the edge of the field right near me, watching the rabbits, probably about 10-15 meters away. So, with my dog being on 13 months old, I decided to give it a miss as I don't think she's ready to face a fox yet.

  19. I think a chihuaua X JRT cross sounds retarded, but how can you knock it really when it outperforms JRT (at catching rabbits )!? I wonder what quality the chihuaua X posses that the JRT lacks? speed LOL? drive??? let's see a pic of this rabbinator yep there's loads..........homosexuality....bulging eyes...moon head...puny arsed body that even a rat could rip in half....erm, what else....oh yes, the JRT isn't a moronic novelty breed, bred for mincers that live in flats? you're right, the chihuaua cross has loads that the JRT doesn't have!
