Aye your right pal toddy is cumbrias biggest summer hunter f*****g it up for the rest of us he won't go out in winter as its to cold for him and his dog can't kill when ther quarry is at its fittest.he kills does full of young all summer long pan calling kettle after what i've heard today scotty lad????? what you heard pal?

  10. I had same prob last year my saluki bull grey was not 12month until june which was in the middle of summer so I waited until sep to run him on anything he done very well and I wouldn't say I wasted any time.I can't see why you would learn a dog on easy rabbits when at winter they are totally different and the hot weather and rock hard ground are hardly ideal

  16. imo a hare on a lamp is often easier caught than a rabbit, dont think they should be lamped hare on the lamp will still put on a good run for a avarage lamp dog under no means are they easy, ive seen many a hare get away on the lamp.my bitch has had plenty daytime hares 3 in 1 day in winter but has missed fair few on the lamp
  17. i feed my dogs on sticky mix i get from a local supplier its 10.00 a bag for 15kg i mix it with raw mince(beef lamb heart kidney chicken)and sometimes tripe i also mix in tripe and left overs from the table they also get rabbit hare or venison when they catch, saying that i have just fed them on dry and they work just the same.expensive food will not make a shit dog a world beater and anyone who believes this wants there heads looked at
  18. Thats the thing mate,, about a 1/4,,, isnt sure enough,,if he was a 1/4 for certain then it would be 1/8 saluki pups,, but as the dam would be the bullx the breeding might go more that way,,, some say the dams slightly on the dominante side some will dissagree,,, but put it this way if i was after a 1st cross collie grey i would use a collie sire and a greyhound dam,, not the other way around. many will dissagree. So it makes sense to me that if i wanted more wind i would use the salukigrey as the dam,,, if i wanted more fast pace up at em type i would use a 5/8 grey 3/8 bull as the dam an
  19. why i ask is i have got a bitch saluki whippet bull grey she is 1/8 bull and cannot take stick but wiil go in no bother,i know all dogs are not the same but i think you stand a better chance of harder dogs with more bull in the mix
  20. so do you mean a bull grey saluki grey put back to a saluki grey?they would be better at hare and fast things but would they be able to take the stick off the sharp end that the quater bull could,
  21. just wondering about breeding...is it saluki/bull x greyhound or saluki x bullgreyhound.is there a prefered method to the breeding??.cheers.mat. Depends on what you want it for really if ya want it for the bigger game then ya want more bull than saluki I m o, mines 3/8 bull 1/8saluki 1/2 grey of coarse heres mine first cross bull grey x first cross saluki grey has done everything except catch a daytime hare he had 1 in the rough but never ran him on the big land yet he is very quick and does turn really well, imo this cross if you get the right ones will make top class lamp dogs.he lo
