  1. Thats pretty good advice.. As from your first post you sound like you've put the effort in to the dog with breaking to stock, ferrets & with the experience of them ferreting trips.. Get some permission and go it alone.. Cracking offer you got there with the lamp.. Plenty folks here to give you advice and to be fair lamping ain't rocket science and once you know the lay of your land and how to help your dog keep quarry it's sights, the rest is down to the dog on the night.. Make sure the dogs fit and well rested to reduce the risk of injury but that said lamping or any
  2. Nah mate for the bike ride. Fan dance will be a breeze compared to the cycling. Haha. Unless we do it in full military kit with a Bergen for a laugh. Lol What sort of miles are you doing in training ?? I did a few shorter time trails and found on longer runs, I had much more stamina and better recovery as I was not flat out , going he'll for leather.. I can do average speed of 20 miles an hour on 10/12 miler and found on longer 50 milers could do 16/17 when I was going well and not pushing overly hard.. Once I got some decent wheels on my bike and areo bars that made a difference..
  3. Nice shots fella.. Perserverence paid off
  4. Cheers lads.. Always heard good feedback about dogs off his stock..

  9. Many, many years ago i ventured North with a mucker seeking a Saluki from the Shap area,at the time the Deerhound Coursing club, because of diminishing membership, was taken over by the Saluki ownership, the Deerhounds were still allowed to compete,do any folk on here have an input into any of that? and how did it fizzle out.The saluki he brought back was a dumb fecker, killed hares and bunnys with aplomb, then spent at least 10 minutes refusing to retrieve each and every one,for 7 years. Don't know what you mean about the Deerhound Coursing Club being taken over by the salukis. Possibly you're g
  10. When you say land to you mean the terrian ?? What's the deer hounds favorable land to run on ?? Having never seen a genuine pure run other than on film, I've not got much knowledge of them. Ive seen a few hybrid lurchers with a strong DH influence and they were canny dogs on edible quarry and would get in to foxes but were not out & out fox slaying lurchers..
  11. Honestly there is no anomosisty in the AWL.. I speak here for myself & for the comittee and can honestly say two groups both set out with the best of intentions and for whatever reasons they chose a different direction.. I've no ego and no axe to grind with anyone that's willing to work towards inhancing and promoting lawful lurcher work. The AWL is a open door to anyone who wishes to support and promote the lurcher and defend our right to hunt with dogs. Alan Tyer the chairman, makes it clear anyone is welcome to join the AWL and he is aware that we have a louder vo
  12. Good read fella..
  13. Thanks.. To address a few of your points.. (You've lost me with the bus stop one) This is not my club and I'm not "running the show". I've helped out with a few things, the main one providing content for the Web page. THe association and our goals are shared by many.. The CA are a massive driver for a repeal of the hunting act and very committed to protecting feildsports and hunting with dogs. Many lurcher owners are members of the CA.. When the hunting council meet and are discussing hunting and our future, we will have club representative involved with th

Aye it's the best.. Quicker than jet washing and after jet washing I always thought the green would be back with vengeance.. Weeds don't grow back..
  15. I've tried loads of different kibbles and it's tough finding one that suits all my dogs.. What's always worked well is raw meat, either as stand alone diet or mixed with dry.. I liked skinners, gain, CJS and the cheapest bring formula 1 @ £ 10 a sack. Sometimes supplements can make a difference rather than changing the feed.. Dorwest have a great range of products which are specifically for dogs.. I like coconut oil or ultimate oil during the season.. This time of year the dogs are on basic rations.. http://www.awll.co.uk/wp/nutritional-benefits-of-plant-supple

  18. Thanks for sharing your point of view.. Your very clear on what you don't like.. Could you shed some more light on what you'd like from a Working lurcher association ? ? Awll.co.uk
