  2. nope you are not alone on that statement, seeing plenty of rubbish being left on the river banks up here and along the sea shore where we fished last year. and the reason i no who left it was because i was there when they were. and i am not being a racist either but yes it was our eastern european friends. just a thought but the link below is on how to go about becoming a waterkeeper. it could be a job for you http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache:zHoOHhMO2EAJ:www.angling-in-ireland.com/ReferenceDocs/Waterkeeper-may07.doc+irish+waterkeeper&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ie

  4. alright mate, sounds like you got a great gift there. i would love to help you but seeing as i am in ireland that would be a little difficult. the only other thing i can suggest is that you forget all about the fishing and send the lot to me, easy come easy go n all that. on a serious note you should find out if there is a local fishing club or the like near you, i'm sure they would be more than interested in helping. or just look online its really not all that hard. do you know what kind of fishing the equipment is for ie: carp , pike , sea ect ect. either way i wish you all th
  5. At Carrickmacross District Court on the 20th January 2009 three appointed waterkeeper from within the ranks of anglers of the NCFFI scored another significant success in the fight against the very real threat to our sport that is fish removal and anti social behaviour. Kieran Roche Geoff Quinn and Richard Caplice gave evidence of apprehending the two culprits of Lituanian origin as they kept watch over illegal devices in Lough Muckno while the culprits themselves slept off considerable hangovers. Judge Mc Bride praised the public spirit of the waterkeepers and described the evidence that tha

  7. thanks mochara, yeah i'm from fermanagh originally. i love lough erne but it is a lot of the smaller loughs that are hidden away that are worth the fishing, its just that the access does not always be easy to get at them. niall_b73
  8. well done there. i was out with the missus yesterday and tried a few spots on lough erne on the way to enniskillen but no joy. she caught her first ever fish today and it was a salmon. so between the two of us we got 3 salmon this week (all put back in of coarse) any way we have a boat booked for saturday on lower lough erne so that should be interesting, never fished that end of it before. will keep you all posted. nice pike niall_b73

  13. :wallbash: :wallbash: :icon_redface: well i learned a valuable lesson today. as for eating the poor thing, having read up on them now, i'm not even sure that they can be eaten. it said on 1 site i looked at that the kelt is considered an unclean fish due to the spawning factor.... niall_b73
  14. i really do not no what to say, i honestly feel sick to the core now knowing what i know now and having read what i have now read on the topic. i can safely say i will stick to the pike from here on in. like i said earlier i did not intentionaly set out to catch this fish.
  15. having read up on it after your comments, i have to tell you all i now feel like shit. i would not have kept it if i'd have known. i love my fishing and did not intentionaly set out to catch this fish, i have always though a salmon was a salmon, i never knew about all these different stages of its life until now. thats a shitty end to my day..... niall_b73

  18. i read lately where a lot of pike fisher men are now using ground bait to lure the pike. throwing loads of ground bait in to attract the shoal/fodder fish and in turn to attract the pike to the shoal thats where you have your dead/live bait waiting. it seems to be doing the trick tho i have yet to try it niall_b73
