  17. i'm not overly sure on that but found this article: "Ban on fishing young eels until next year to halt plummeting population Fishing for juvenile eels has been banned until February of next year in an effort to stop their complete disappearance in English waters, with a maximum fine of £50,000 for those who break the rules. Once common in British waters, the long-term future the once traditional sea-side delicacy is bleak as the numbers of eels entering European rivers has crashed by up to 95 percent in recent decades, the lowest since records began. Eels start life as larvae
  18. i hate to break it to you but yes, eel fishing is banned. "Eels Eel fishing is closed until 2012. The prospect of re-opening the eel fishery will be considered at that time, following a review of the data collated as a result of scientific sampling provided for in the draft plan. * Bye-law No C.S. 303, 2009 prohibits fishing for eel, or possessing or selling eel caught in a Fishery District in the State until June 2012. * Bye-Law No 858, 2009 prohibits the issue of eel fishing licences by the regional fisheries boards in any Fishery District." niall_b73
