  8. headed off yesterday about 9:30 to a large lough that we have never fished before and got there about 10ish. this is a large body of water that supposedly holds pike up to the 25lb mark. so we are out on the water and take a quick scout about looking for what we think would be good spot to fish water. i was using lures and my mate was sink & draw and dead baiting. we tried various places, bays, reedy banks and the likes but to no avail we then trolled for ages and still nothing. about 3pm we decided to hit another lough on our route home so were on the water there about 3:30 we he

  11. yeah i have herd a lot of great reports about the lamprey lately, i have never used it yet but do plan to give it a shot this winter. supposed to be full of blood and when they thaw in the water the pike apparently goes mad for the scent. niall_b73 Ive tried frozen sections (defrosted) popped up off the bottom,on a moat near me full of jacks and a few biggers females(18lb,known) and had F all. F`in expensive too. well i think i will have to give them a lash anyway if not to satisify my own couriousity niall_b73

  16. well my own favourite would have to be with out a doubt (as many of you already know) the Mepps Aglia Mega. manys a good days fishing done in the depths of winter with this lure that never seems to fail. niall_b73

  19. i came across the following article while browsing: A man who was found with some 90 perch in his possession by fisheries inspectors has been convicted at Castleblayney District Court.   20. well we thought the rain would never stop yesterday morning so decided at 11am to head of anyway. we arrived at our destination at 11:30am and got the boat into the water and all setup. up the lough we went trying all the wee bays that normally produce good fish in the winter but a lot of them are still choked with weed making fishing & boating very difficult, we will just have to wait till they die back a bit. so we stuck the main river trolling different spinners & lures. all day long i never got as much as a bite but my mate caught & landed two pike. both were only a couple
