  1. I would probably choose the 100 rabbit catching dog. The 6 in 6 hare dog would definatley be somthing special but the stamina of a dog needed to catch 100 bunnys in 1 night! Mind you I have seen hares run and not caught so to catch 6 out of 6 would be amazing. JPT
  2. What about giving it to someone as a pet? JPT
  3. I actually got £40 back off the bloke who sold me my pup as I travelled 200 miles to get her. He said put it into the car for peterol! Top bloke or what? JPT MY DOGS ARE PRICELESS!!!!
  4. Ok here is a question for everyone who owns a dog. Can you put a price on your 4 legged friend? I ask because I was laughed at the other day for paying £200 for a lurcher pup. Now I don't think that is that much for a well bred, fed and healthy young dog out of good honest working parents but this chump I was talking with dissagreed. He said I was being ripped off but when you think about how much hard work that goes into keeping a litter of pups then it is not that bad is it? What would you pay for a pup bred by worker to worker? Cheers, JPT

    when ?

I have shot many a phez with ye olde .22 air rifle. As long as you shoot them in the nugget then they die instantly. In fact I would say that this method is more humane when done propper than a shotie is as the big bore can easily wound and the bird can do one with a gut full o lead. DOH! JPT
  8. Top Doggin magazine! JPT

  12. Still looks like a pup 2 me. Hope he does the biz for you. JPT
  13. I saw some beagles the other week up in the lakes but they had terrier ears not the big floppy ones. Pure bred or what? JPT
  14. Where are you? The pups should be good. JPT
  15. Looks racy mate, plenty of whippet Id say. Should make a good rabbiting dog. JPT
  16. I think most lurchers would and do in alot of cases benafit from whippet blood in them. Add a dash of terrier for coat and feet and a bit of greyhound for height and you are away. If you want some more up top then what else would you add? collie? SALUKI? Poodle? JPT
  17. Every whippet I have ever come across has had velvet like coat and skin which is in my opinion a huge down side for a working dog. It means every time you go out you are more likley to be attending to cuts and rashes than you would with a lurcher with thicker skin and more coat. If none of that bothers you then I can see why people would have whippets because there is nothing like watching one run! I dont think I have ever seen anything take off as fast as a racing whippet............ JPT
  18. Beddy x is it? Looks a good one for shaw. JPT
  19. Nice dog that you have there. I like the white markings on the snout! JPT
  20. Yes the dam of this dog probably threw back to bigger dogs even though she is only 22 inches, the dog turned out very racy and with a big strong head Sounds like a smart runner Any pics of the dog? JPT
  21. Anyway what I am trying to say is that whippet in a dog can add that bit extra in a dog for rabbits and hares and some will go on to bigger stuff but it not always gives you the small size Maybe not if crossed with a lurcher with other breeds in its make up but a first cross is usually small is it not? JPT
  22. There skin is very thin and they have crap coats. My uncles whippet gets a red rash underneath when running through long grass! Its fast as feck like but a bit of a whimp! JPT
  23. I would say a whippet adds acceleration and size to the lurcher. Ideal for ferreting and bushing when crossed with somthing with a decent coat. All the whippets I have seen have been off there heads so I guess they add the madness you need for hunting! JPT
