Thank's for the advice it is appreciated. The Bird in question is a "Perlin" Peregrine/Merlin Hybrid and having done a lot of Googling could not find the answers I was after so natuarly thought I'd come on Here Because as I already said I know nothing about Falconry but as an ex-Gamekeeper and someone who still Shoots and Traps I was really curious about the brief bit of info I'd been given. As for the rest I don't put up with Pricks wherever I come across them!
Gaham 01 What am I supposed to do now? I suppose I should respond with a similar level of intelligence. Oh! dear some Prick has just called Me an Anti? You Total Prick!
What you seem to be saying is, although I wouldn't be able to shoot or trap Larks ,Pipits etc,(not that I want too) they are a protected spieces but with a small Falcon and a quarry license those rules no longer apply, is that right?
If You can't get a Magpie or Crow from a Friend. Then good bait I have found to be a combination of some Red meat and eggs.Might take a while but you'll get one in the end!
Hello! I'll start by saying I know absolutely nothing about the sport of Falconry and it is because of this fact that I'm asking this question. Speaking briefly to My vet yesterday, He mentioned getting licenses for taking Starlings and Larks with a "Perlin" How is this possible when it is illegal to trap or shoot Larks?
I've got an 8 acre smallholding and last year killed 14 using My 12 bore during the day. This year so far only seen and shot 2, My nieghbours reckoned town Fox's were being caught and released into the countryside?
The Staghound are really Deerhound Lurchers,so personally I would go for pure Deerhound the Borzoi was known for hunting Wolve's in pair's so quite a tough dog but again you could go for a Mastiff bred for Hunting and get a Cane Corso!
If your determined to cross your E/M then I would suggest Deerhound or Borzoi would be your best bet,as for pain resistance that will have to come from the Mastiff most sigthounds don't do pain very well.
I've had a lot of cats in the past, all went readily into a cage trap with a small tin of cat food. you'll also catch Hedgehogs and mink if there are any around.
