  1. great pics mate has the border got hard mouth and does it work to whistle?
  2. ive recently started bringing in the whistle with my one year old beddy,he learnt it in a day, no lies either, but is one longish blast ok for recall?still learning, and most people do two short blasts but he returns on the longish one spot on.is there a reason why people dont normally do it?
  3. a picardy is a french herding dog that is quite rare in britain,not many breeders, im no expert on this subject so may be wrong

  8. i think its more about the individual dog rather than the breed. anyone trained theirs to whistle, i got my beddy bang on at ten months with voice recall then whistled when he came back nd on retrieved going well he's a quick learner
  9. good point about the mudded up coat etc mine went from blue to an dark orange after going over ploughed fields in the last dire winter we had what are your views on what the bedlington was created for?earth work or rat and rabbit?

  12. hi im new to this part of the forum but have posted on the lurcher bit, just wondered which is best for rat and rabbit,plumer or bedlington?and why?

  15. my 19'' tts bedlington retrieves rabbit skin dummies and tennis ball spot from cover right up to hand, but when out walking if its throne into some cover he'll chase it the pick it up but hold it at the front of his mouth and bring it to me then drop it infront of me as if to say here you have it,ive started putting it in his mouth and making a massive fuss over him,has anyone had this before?any sollutions? thanks
  16. thanks for the replies. i have a straight bedlington whos 19.5'' tts so a big dog at ten months dont reckon he'll grow much more. And i believe the more time put in the more you get out,he is quick enough to take a rabbit on the run imho.he retrieves,stays till sent to pick up the rabbit skin dummy and surpisingly soft mouthed.im only a lad so this is mu first dog,hes a joy to own and couldnt ask for much more,use to be terrible at recall when younger though,but spent time on it and turned out great.
  17. ive heard that straight bedlington or hybrid are best left for experienced dog men/women,do you believe it to be true?
  18. which cross do you think would be best for mooching,ferreting,lamping and retrieving to gun?
  19. my dogs dew claw fell off, it was like the top casing bit, i can see it growing back through, is that normal?
  20. i have a bedlington dog pup whos now ten months old but his recalls on and off, but only doesnt listen whilst sniffing something,his retrievings spot on right up to hand every time, i have him on a long line atm just to better the recall, is he being stubborn like ive heard beddy crosses are or just young and interested in other dogs marking?
