  1. nice shooting. a good bag lamping and decent pheasant bag too. keep em coming. Where was the roe shot and what calibre rifle?
  2. A farmer i shoot with uses two lengths of thick bamboo and puts an old roadie push bike inner tube at the top it works quite well but i still prefer free hand its so much quicker and very effective if you have a steady hand.
  3. i love shooting in the snow! me and a mate went out with the full moon in the snow we took the lamp out but ended up ditching that as we could siluette the rabbits easily. they do come out where i am. its also an ideal time to pick spots to lie out from as you can spot paw prints and shit really easily.
  4. lol its in the freezer with the other meat ready for a nice game pie.
  5. Hi i have a gas ram .22 bsa supersport. using RWS superfields the noise as the pellet leaves the barrel is normal. however when i use eley wasps there is a metalic ting noise. what is this noise?
  6. hi shot a pigeon today and decided to check the crop so i can choose the right crop next time i shoot. however the crop did not contain the farmers crop but was full to bursting with poiseness berries . is the pigeon still edible?
  7. good gun from what i have heard. rabbits easy hare are sort of a no go area but it is possible but often frowned upon. fox definatly NOT. i use a bsa spring powered air rifle and quarry is rabbit squirrel pigeon and corvids. To tune an air rifle above 12ft lbs you need and FAC and not really worth it. a 17hmr or .22 are better or even a hushpower or something. (unless your permission requires an air rifle or you absolutly love air rifles)
  8. Cheers budy. If it aint broke dont fix it.
  9. I have read that cleaning my barrel is important because of excess lube and dust build up in the barrel. Is fireing ciggarette filters with degreaser and a pellet behind a good way?
  10. So my supersport gas ram air rifle is running dry. Last time i stripped it down i used a silicone grease on the rubber seal and metal on metal surfaces. I read this was bad. What should i use? I have a metal polish and black moly paste what goes where?
  11. i suppose foxes are always smiling like the one on the right too. something needs to be done about all these lies. they make it sound like we go around firing off shots willynilly the public needs to know how we really do it. The statement about if writhing around is utter tosh what did he do get his stop watch out and time it? of course it writhed around for a bit they are called nerves, and if it took ten mins for it to die i dont expect it would have stayed around for long. we should all get jobs for the tabloids and inform the public of the truth.
  12. good work mate if it is what it says and the limit in south africa is ok you have an awesome rifle with a staggering power. the animals you state wont have a chance!
  13. looks to be a good book. i may have to purchase that.
  14. hello havent seen you on the forum before but im fairly new. welcome back!
  15. Went too my a permission today after zeroing my gun with bsa interceptors. I bought the tin of interceptors when i got the gun and found they were not suited to it however after purchasing a gas ram and reading that they cope with heavier pellets i got them out again at 30yrds i can group within a 1in box. So i got to grips with the holdover and under 4 mills up for 50yrds and 3 under for 10yrds ready to hunt! I only got one rabbit at around 30 yrds with a full on facial hit between the eyes. When gutting it i found a pool of blood in the neck so i had a closer inspection what i found was the
  16. LOl very nice how are you going to cook them?
  17. I dont think it is fair shooting the game keepers hard work. this said however i have shot around 5 pheasants in all the time i have been shooting air rifles. Later in the season they are tricky to stalk as they have terrific hearing so sporting yes. Also a head shot to a pheasant drops them no problem! I dont see a problem taking one or two every now and then to put in the pot. dont go crazy and kill every pheasant you see and abide by the keepers comment but dont shoot them out of season just when they are a little wiser. tasty shooting
  18. I have a bsa supersport with gas ram (courtesy of donny c) I think they are great guns.
