  2. go for it fella! a very efficient method of pest controll, never done it of a quad but out the car window works wonders. safety first though! make sure ur safety catch works
  3. Good stuff. I do currenty use chair gun and find it fantastic however your idea of comparing my phone software to chair gun is a great idea to show me how far off the iPhone app is with the different mags. When I get home I will check do some comparing and show the results. Using chair gun I have found the mils needed for upto 50 yard shots and get good results up to 45 yards so being able to range distant rabbits on my phone will allow me to make these shots. Thanks.
  4. I want to use my mill dot scope to range find at those longer range shots. Now I have got this free mill dot range finding software on my iPhone but I assume it uses 10x mag as standard, now my scope only goes up to 9 mag and I use it on 6x because I find it more accurate. So if I use this software and fill in the table of target dimensions and then how Many mill dots it covers it will give me the range as if I were on 10x mag how do I convert it to 6x mag? Does this make sence? Thanks.
  5. very true. im very pleased with the set up at the moment. i did find before i tuned my gun that when rested on solid objects POI would be effected seriously. anyway its working for me, so for £6 i would suggest people give it a try. if it doesnt work for you, sell the bipod on ebay or sale section. By the way zini your vids are top notch, i think the thing was recently "slut points"? so many of them going towards you mate, chair gun is working wonders for me. 45yard shots of the bipod are seriously achievable on targets and will soon be used out in the field (when its not so windy)
  6. i recently purchased one of those clip on bipods for my BSA supersport (gas ram). now i have read many topics on various forums about bipods messing with consistency accuracy etc on springers... however i wanted to try for my self, now i zeroed my gun at 25 yards the day before the bipod arrived and as soon as it arrived i put it on and took 2 shots at the same distance i zeroed the day before without a bipod and the POI was exactly the same with the bipod on, im not saying this will work for everyones springers as mine has been tuned alot and shoots smooth even for a rammer. i like the result
  7. i dont have any/much experiance with pcps but a lad on here gave me some good advice which is to google air rifle clubs near you and pop in and try a few.. gun shops sometimes have a 15 or so yard range to try them out too.
  8. RWS super h points are doing the business for me.
  9. Hi i am useing hawke chairgun pro. one of the boxes requests scope height, how do i go about measureing my scopes height?
  10. Depending on your barrel width and moderators etc you can use an old inner tube from a push bike. you could use the road 700cc size for a barrel and an mtb size inner for a moderator.
  11. A great channel that, "fieldsports channel" i think its a good thing for Fieldsports it should be mentioned to as many people as possible.
  12. Cheers lads. My gun has been out of action for a while recently however today I got some wet and dry paper and got polishing. The sear was not releasing the piston anymore so that was priority polished that up nicely and then polished the piston again as the first time i dident make it mirror finish, put the old girl back together.. Cleaned the barrel and now my groups are back to scratch! The trigger is far nicer now and the gun feels super smooth so all is well. I am using the same pellets as ever but I have a feeling it was the barrel being a tad dirty from a fresh lube and most of the abo
  13. Cheers lads, Zini mate your rep is ace as it is. I took the thing apart again today to give it a proper polish etc and realized one of the stock threads was stripped so out came the tap and die set all done then when i put it back together it did the old trick of not releasing the piston when the trigger is pulled, this has happened before and its because of the sear being rough and damaged due to constant use and abuse, Bloody thing so i have ordered one from chambers and waiting for it to be in stock, also i am going to play around with the trigger weight while its out of action. Thanks ag
  14. Wow that's quite a post zini my friend, thanks the rifle I'm using is a BSA supersport gas ram using rws superdomes. The one outlier that has changed is the shooting position I'm using a table with a cloth on top and my palm underneath not really gripping the forend. I'm pretty sure it's not the trigger etc as I have been getting good groups for the last couple of months. I will try all these tips though and also go back to my original shooting position. Cheers for the tips I have never heard the one about not putting the trigger forward untill impact.
  15. i have had a good run recently on the air rifle front untill today. went out to zero the gun after a good few days hunting and at 25 yards my groups are awefull it will group two really close and then there will be a high one and then a low one then one to the left an inch etc so i set to work on all the possible reasons i could think of, i tightened the stock bolts the scope bolts cleaned the barrel and the outcome... the same as before.. i even dismantled the thing de-greased it then re-greased it and put it back together, outcome... NILL the only other expanation i can think of it pellets,
  16. Me and a mate got 4 embryonic bunnys last week in a way I felt bad but as it was pest controll it was a major bonus. Good write up and pics mate
  17. I use my bsa supersport for all the vermin you are wanting to shoot. So I was in the same position as you a few years ago and had a budget such as yours point is don't bother put a little extra cash on and check the for sale section. I may be bullshitting here but you can get c02 air rifles and I'm pretty sure you can change power from 12 down to 8 on one of them? Problem is they change POI in different temperatures apparently?? I would say for such a low price get a springer learn to shoot well with it then if you really like it and it's doing an ok job up the game and get a pcp and finish th
  18. Cheers Si I will see if the RFD has some fx pellets and il get them to chrono it with them. Now if I get a chronoed with fx pellets but don't get on with them and convert to rws will the gun have a different ft/lb and if it does will chairgun convert it for me? Thanks for all your help zini I'm going to be hunting most of next week so hopefully the results will be great
  19. As ever zini an excellent vid! I have played around with long ranges with my springer also. Now I'v hit pellet tins at 60yrds and walnuts at 50 but I can't do it every time like yourself. The pellets I'm using are fairly light weight so they suck for real life conditions. Would fx pellets suit a gas rammed BSA supersport I'm not sure of the current power output but it's between 10 and 12ft/lbs I'm sure. (I'm getting it chronoed soon so I can play around with the hawke chairgun proggrame properly) Also what do you zero at? And what holdover were you using? I zeroed at 35yrds specially to shoot
  20. Remember if you do decide to clean pellets and you are using a springer many oils can cause dieseling this is not good! Your accuracy will go to pot and the damage to the gun may be unrepairable. Try cleaning pellets and make a try and make a grouping do the same with pellets straight out of the tin see if the groupings are worth the cleaning. GMWorkshop on you tube has a great DIY barrel cleaning vid for the unwanted dirty particles zini has explained. By the way what rifle are you using?
  21. Nope don't bother cleaning pellets unless you are a HFT expert or the likes.
  22. That's not illegal unless the rifle has an output higher than 12ft/lbs... Depends what rifle you have if it's a BSA I can give you an easy guide.
