  1. I don't think so, it does state 'Store your gun out of sight and separately from pellets' in the reasonable precautions section. I guess if you have children in the house then locking up is the best option.
  2. Think you're one of them to be honest dude. You say 'i no to give it water am not thick' but your first question was what to feed it and give it to drink! These are the most basic of things to know before buying any animal surely? These two simple questions could have been asked to the person you got them from before purchasing. To come on here with the attitude you seem to have will get you nowhere and you won't make many friends. There are some extremely knowledgeable people on here all willing to help so i suggest you take in the advice thats given, i hope for your ferrets sake that you do.
  3. Must be a misprint i guess as the .22s are the same weight as the .177s
  4. Thats excellent thanks, I'll give that thread a read I guess like any pellet choice It's a case of trying a few to find the ones that suit.
  5. This is my first post in this section so would just like to say hello to you all. I have been looking through this section for a while and have found a lot of the posts very useful so thanks to you all I have a .20 Stealth and have been trawling through the net looking at pellets. I came across these http://www.bentaylorandson.co.uk/pellet.html and though expensive thought they sounded pretty good and there is 600 in a tin? Does anyone have any experience with them? Also, is the Gunpower bi-pod any good? Do they swivel/tilt or are they just fixed? If not is it possible to fit one t
  6. Hi all, not sure if this is the right section? I've been after a winchester 9410 shotgun for a while now. I have trawled through the Internet countless times and still no luck. Does anyone know of any for sale anywhere? They are not made anymore and don't seem to be up for sale much second hand so are a bit of a struggle to find. Wish i bought one years back now, just didn't have the money at the time. Thanks in advance, Paul.
  7. Hi carp king, making shaped nets is as easy as a non shape net. To add an extra mesh you simply go through one of the meshes twice. I do this on the 2nd to last meshes on the net to keep the outer meshes tidy for the draw cord. I normally start with 7 meshes on the ring and add one until you hit 17, then 3 at 17, then start decreasing by 1 each line until your back to 7, then knit the ring on. That should give about a 4ft net. Decreasing is as easy, all you do is at the end, or start, of each line go through 2 meshes so each row you decrease by 1. There are some good instructional videos
  8. I've got some elderflower champagne on the go. Ready to bottle on sunday, first time i've made it, i made some elderberry cordial last year which was quite nice
  9. I dont know much about mink but have just been reading the book 'Rural Pest Control' by Steve Caple, in the mink section he says rabbit is the most popular bait with pigeon breast complete with a few white feathers coming a close second. However he does go on to say that any smelly, bloody bait will do, try a few different things and see which is best. Hope this is of some use?
  10. They are noisy yes, but you can either turn them down so they make no noise at all or stick some tape over the speaker to reduce the noise. If you get into a routine of switching the collar on and checking it before entering the ferret then you shouldn't forget, i never have. True, they are made to make money, but then Deben is a business after all and that isnt the only purpose for making locators. There are always going to be those who like them and those who don't, but theres no denying they are a useful bit of kit. Yes they are expensive, im not rich by any means but i managed to save
  11. If you can't trust random people on the internet don't ask random people on the internet. You could always meet people with your parents until you know and trust them. I too asked longdog13 when i started and he is one of the most genuine people you could meet and i've made a good friend, simply by asking and turning up when he wanted me to. If you ask and people offer their help its good to take it. Not having a go its just a bit of friendly advice Also, you clearly care for your ferrets so buying a locator for them is a good idea, its always nice to know where they are. Imagine waiting
  12. Nice write up mate It really was a good day, cant wait to do it again
  13. how do you pay for the poly it doesn;t say.do they accept paypal. He accepts Pay Pal... I've just ordered some, and not a bad price , so thanks again NRigger! Buggsbunny . Think about it .A rabbit emerging from a burrow is probably only going to see a net of any colour as a silouhette against the light. Then there is the fact that rabbits are probably colour-blind or certainly don't see colour as we do and are defintly are more attuned to detect movement than colour. The number of times that rabbits back-net into nets of all colours is the real indicater that the rabbit
  14. Personally i do not think the colour would make too much difference, im not talking from experience as ive only just started ferreting but this is my view. Rabbits would not be expecting a net to be covering the hole in the first place so would not be looking for one, and with a ferret behind them they would only want to do one thing and that is get out the burrow and fast. Also they would be emerging from a very dark burrow and the opening of the hole im sure would just look like a bright light, i think by the time their eyes had adjusted to the difference in brightness they would be pursed
  15. That'd be good of you paul no laughing if i lose a rabbit or two with my attempts though I'll give you a bell for a meet soon mate, maybe an hour or two out on Sunday? I wouldnt laugh as i know how frustrating it is, especially if you lose two from under your nose Yeah sounds good mate, i'll be around.
  16. Blimey you'd never lose those pink ones!! Where did you find rainbow coloured twine? Are they spun poly?
  17. I can teach you to make nets if you wanted to learn? Its pretty easy really and doesnt take long for them to start looking good. Plus once you know how you can make them any colour, shape or length you like and out of what twine you like, they work out a lot cheaper. ATB Paul.
  18. Hi, i buy my twine from here http://www.trapworks.co.uk/ also you could try http://www.thenetloft.net/ also as said dd timber products. Also keep an eye out on ebay. Hope this helps
  19. I give mine ox hearts, are these ok? I can get 2 for £5 or under from my local butcher and 1 heart feeds the ferrets for at least a week, They seem to love them, chuck in a bit of dried food every now and then too. Will hopefully feed them rabbits though as soon as i get them out working.
  20. Sounds like a good day to me. That sounds great if you dont mind? Grays isn't too far at all really, bit slow in the landy but more than willing to do it. I look forward to hearing from you. I'll PM you my phone number just incase you want it. Thanks, Paul.
  21. Sorry for the late reply. I do drive yes, although the only vehicle i have that works at the moment is my work land rover which only does about 50 flat out. Where in Essex are you? Thanks, Paul.
  22. a vasectomy means your hobs gets the pipe from his nuts cut to stop the sperm, castration means his balls get chopped off and thrown in the bin if he's got no balls he wont have his way with the jill, so she will stay in season. Oh ok, i hadn't realised a hob would no longer mate after castration. Didn't give it a thought as it doesn't seem to have stopped my dog, but then i guess a dog is not a ferret. Thanks for the help.
  23. Thanks for the advice. Why is a vasectomy preferable? Thanks
