  1. I think what we all tend to forget is that the CA will not lose money on any transaction, and as such the discounted rates could be applied across the board. God only knows, working or not it's hard times. I had a conversation with one of my customers yesterday, about how our communities have crumbled away, no one giving a hoot anymore. A sign of the times me thinks but something I think is going to have to change. Many of us have had the cream of life over the last five to ten years, although we may not admit it or even know that we have had an easy ride. Things are set to change and get allo
  2. I know what your saying! I visit ten businesses everyday, fifty a week and no one business owner is happy at the moment. All predict a seriously hard year, most are trying to work out way to keep the staff in a job, while the staff moan and groan about how hard their life is and how bad work is I think we will all feel the pinch this year and I honestly think most will have a lot of bruises left after the pinch!! I'm in full time work, I have a £120 car tax bill (no option but to spend the money), £250 stalking lease (local farm with Fallow, meat helps out in the home), £450 worth of
  3. To be honest Jez, I don't think anyone is having ago at your personally, it's just the UK at the moment, everyone has their faces in the dirt trying to stay afloat, employed or unemployed. John
  4. You have a point, it's almost like having "perks" for not having a job, what would be interesting is to see if people who are unemployed now, would opt to pay a full premium if they got a job before their membership ran out; I think not! However, that said it's got to be better to have someone insured than not insured, after all it could be you who is claiming from them! The way the UK is going, we will all end up unemployed, so it's worth knowing about the discounted insurance John
  5. The pin snapped due to metal fatigue. Simply put, if you keep bending a metal rod, it will eventually snap. The same goes for a firing pin, the process happens quicker if the impact isn't slowed by softer metal such as the primer in a cartridge or the brass in a snap cap. John
  6. As most of my mates don't reload and only shoot at the range, this is the stuff they use. I'm happy coz I get to nick all the brass which to be fair isn't that good but hey it's free It's not as accurate as Gold medal match but then it's no where near the price. If you want cheap accurate ammo then best I have seen is GECO (sp?)which produces one hole groups in a friends pro-hunter. John
  7. Federal law buddy Try buying a .50cal and bringing it back to the UK In the land of sub machine guns, it never fails to amaze me how paranoid the Yanks can be. John
  8. Hey Mick, hope you had a good Xmas! A kinetic hammer, looks a bit like a normal hammer with a screw off end which opens so you can place a charged round in to it. You then screw the end back on and hit the hammer on to a hard surface, this dislodges the bullet which will come out of the case. Sounds scary and it is!! Best by far is a bullet puller which fits in to your press like a die. There is a collet which grips the bullet and as you lower the press arm, the bullet is separated from the case. Hammer Collet I've used both and snapped the hammer after the first few tries. I've be
  9. The FEO will just want to make sure your a tidy chap and if by owning a shotgun you would not become a risk to the public. Much will be general observations but he may also enquire about your family. He might chuck in a question about "guns" for example a friend was asked "where are the guns then?" this was on his first application so he didn't have any "guns". Rumours of theses trick questions spread like wildfire but in general as already said, be yourself. If asked a question and you don't know the answer then say you don't know and don't try to make it up! The FEO will ask question about y
  10. 300 to 400 yards. Eye damage is deemed as "serious injury" and lead rain hurts . John
  11. You might have to call them as a lot of "tactical" items are deemed unsuitable for the rest of the world. Most just blanket ban sections, so a quick call (email first) might sort things out. John
  12. The cartridge holders are made by a company called ATI (?), try looking for tactical ATI shell holder. John
  13. £36 for 500 Eley or £64 1000, I have 1500 to purchase but was told no further discounts can be given after 1000 rounds, so that's £3.20 per box. Many years ago we used to use T22 and can remember paying £18 per 500 back then a friend and I used to split the costs and pay £9 each. Little did I know John
  14. Okay, so you are ZEROING the rifle and what happens? Do you manage to actually zero? If, so are you saying that when you come to use the rifle again, the rifle is no longer zeroed? John
  15. Very true words!! Just go to a BDS shoot meet and see the old guys get 3" groups, and be happy. They also shoot one hell of a lot of deer. John
  16. I'm guessing that you mean H4831 ? 52 grains is going to be hot. C.O.L is ? What velocity are you getting? What twist rate does the rifle have? - Never mind 1 in 10 What is the OAL of the bullet tip? John
  17. When I first got mine, I completely stripped it, finding little bits of rust in the nooks and crannies. One thing I noticed was that the side button had a small spring which pressed against the mag tube, a very poor design as the spring seemed to have slipped and got caught up with the mag tube. Any how I put it all back together and the side clip was under tension and I've not had a problem since. John
  18. Your standard de-capping dies will not work and simply result in a snapped pin. The type of primer pocket is called a "Berdan" named after the inventor Hiram Berdan. There are tools available to remove the primers and to cut a center hole but it's normally far to much effort, hence the general cost of "Berdan" cases is equal to the scrap value at the time of sale. John
  19. Barrel traps all the way for me! These are probably the best I have used The flat pack John
  20. This is a problem we all face. In my old house I was lucky, as I had an old cupboard under the stairs, which fitted a four gun cabinet with an inch either side. I drilled each side of the cabinet, secured bolts and filled the sides with concrete. When we moved I tried for weeks to remove the cabinet. I guess the new owners would have had to board over the front 1) Garage, this is normally a complete no! It's not occupied and a target for thieves 2) Bedroom, good place but you need to disguise the cabinet. Could it be fitted in side a wardrobe? 3) again, good place but access is a big is
  21. is supping the port and fine it is too

  22. Hi have one and to be honest, I am so impressed I would buy another just to have it!! Shot clays with it over Xmas, 50 clay cartridges and not even a sign of a jam. In fact, I've never had the gun jam. The "O" rings are 22mm x 2mm and can be purchased for 1p each, I get mine from a gas supplier for free. For 1p each, I simply change it every time I clean the gun not that it's needed. The one I have is the Mk1 which people do say is far better than the Mk2, I can not say either way. John
  23. A semi auto isn't exactly a target rifle for club shooting and AFAIK there isn't a practical .22rf discipline (might be wrong as I'm not a target shooter). It's a mad old world, what difference will it make if you have one, two or six rifles for vermin control, there is simple no practical reason to stop you. I'd say I need the bolt action for day time walk about shooting and the bolt action for night shooting where you have to be a silent as possible, or the bolt action for range shooting, in fact you would prefer another bolt action target rifle or say straight that if you can not have the
