  1. Up for sale is a Falcon Menace 10x42 scope with MP20 reticule(red/green). Scope is in excellent condition with box, sun shade, wheel and original flip-up scope caps. The quality of the optics is superb, better than my Zeiss conquest IMHO. 30mm tube. BC caps not inc. Scope rings not inc. The only marks on the scope are around the battery cover, which if I am to be honest is the reason and only reason I'm selling the scope, not enough room in my gun cabinet! SOLD PENDING John

  3. A few things to check. 1) Did you fit a quick release stud? If so, is it touching the barrel? 2) Have you fitted the bi-pod the correct way around? If not, the rifle will not recoil correctly 3) Is the stock touching the barrel when you are using the bi-pod? 4) Like all new shooting positions, you need to shoot relaxed and naturally. Is your shooting technique good? Make sure the rifle is in a natural point of aim and that you are not canting or twisting the rifle before you take the shot. John
  4. Reloading is a LONG way off yet buddy, you have chokes and shot sizes to worry about first John
  5. Cost wise, it all depends on what you want. I guess my set up is close to a grand or more but I've been reloading for a while and have amassed a lot of kit. If you want to simply "give it ago", a Lee kit is okay but you will need to change the scale. If your sold on the idea of reloading go for one of the cheap RCBS kits to get you started. To be honest, I started reloading from the word go. I was in college at the time of purchasing my first center fire rifle. Litt's as it was known then, gave me rounds of factory to start me off, after enquiring how much a box of ammo was I thought that I
  6. Have you seen a shotgun barrel explode? I was standing three guns up when I witnessed the event, it's not nice. My advise would be to simply get rid of the gun. Chances are it's going to be full choke, lopping off 6" of barrel is going to remove all the choking and the guns going to be next to useless. Sometimes I think we can simply all swim up stream, instead of going with the current and I think this is one of them occasions where the gun is either sold and replaced with a more suitable gun or simply retired to the cabinet. Pump actions are selling at auction for £15 to £40 so it's no gre
  7. You can not reload the HMR. Full set ups cost between £200 and £500 which will include everything you need to start John
  8. So You want a calibre for deer/fox and rabbits. This isn't having a go at you, so please don't take it that way. If your so inexperienced to think that any calibre use for deer will prove suitable for rabbits you need to have a rethink. In the first instance, shooting deer should not be taken lightly, there is much to learn and much to do way before you even think about shooting deer. What are you going to do with the deer once you have shot it? Can you process it? store it? You can not simply leave a shot deer in a hedge, can you extract it? What deer species are you going to shoot? Nope,
  9. It's not going to hurt if you tell the FEO that your a professional pest controller but it means diddle squat to the process, unless your employer can provide written evidence that you need an FAC to carry out your day to day job. If your self employed and can provide evidence that you need an FAC to carry out your work, I am reliably told that you do not need to have land to register your FAC on as you can prove "good reason" bit like a terrier man with a HD pistol (in the old hunting world before the ban). If you work for a big company, then other than providing supporting evidence that you
  10. firearms cert without having land? You need "suitable" land before you can be granted a firearms certificate. The land has to be suitable for the calibres you require, with suitable quarry. I work as a pest controller will that help my application? Never helped with my applications. John
  11. Hi Jake, it's not hard. You have two terminals at the base of the bulb and two terminals on the battery. If you get two strands of wire and attach one to one side of the bulb and the other side to one side of the battery, do the same one the other side of the bulb and battery and hey presto, let there be light. Now if you put a switch on one of the wires, hey presto the lamp turns on and off. Boggles the mind hey. John
  12. No, you don't "have" to have a fuse. It's only 12 volt and your not going to die if it goes wrong but a word of warning...... I was using one of my home made lamps a few years back, no fuse in that wiring loom, just a switch. I had finished lamping a rather big field and had made my way up to a gate, which I climbed over on to the road. I was walking a long, and caught a strong smell of burning, bloody hell I though, someones house is on fire! It was then I felt a strange heat on my rear and shortly after I noticed smoke from my battery bag. The wires had shorted and caught my hat on fir
  13. Roxy, bottom line is that a farmer doesn't really have the right to shoot a dog, even if the dog is worrying sheep. In the first instance, the owner of the dog that is worrying the livestock is committing an offence. If a farmer (or anyone for that matter) shoots a dog, then he/she is committing criminal damage as the dog is "property", when the farmer ends up in court he/she could use 'protection of livestock' as a defence for shooting the dog BUT would need to show that it was the last resort and that they had done everything else that was practical before shooting the dog. A court is a two
  14. Cool! I've always wanted a Rod buck steel target. John
  15. For a scrumpy head, that was funny John
  16. I see (sorry buddy, dense moment), your shooting a 204 & 6mmBR. I'm guess it could have burned the barrel, 3500 fps would be about average for a 6mm but it can be driven faster. Before you give up, give the rifle a good clean with KG1 and then KG2, shoot the rifle a bit more and scrub with KG2. It did wonders on my mates old .222, but I guess if the rifling is stripped right off, then it's a new barrel needed. John
  17. So are you shooting a .204 or .243? John
  18. Can you speak Welsh? If not, it takes a bit of time for the dogs to translate English back to Welsh. Bloody intelligent is our springer's John
  19. 3800 fps & 3900 fps, that's fast. What calibre are you using, .220 swift? John
  20. I'll throw in my 2'p worth. After over twenty years of owning .22rf rifles and after owning more than I can remember I have come to one conclusion. If your serious about rabbiting and lamping you will always come back to a B/A rifle. That's based on experience of many S/A rim fires, one way or another, one day or the next the rifle will jam and it will jam in a way that in the middle of the night, you will end up with a big scratch along the receiver where you have tried in the half light of the moon to remove the stuck case, which by the way will still be stuck but both the rifle and you wil
  21. "WILDFOWLING AND THE LAW England and Wales In England and Wales the foreshore is that part of the seashore which is more often than not covered by the flux and reflux of the four ordinary tides occuring midway between springs and neaps. The foreshore may be in crown or private ownership. In England and Wales the B.A.S.C has an agreement with the Crown Estate Commissioners giving B.A.S.C. members defence against prosecution for carrying guns on the Crown foreshore. You need permission to shoot on private foreshore. The onus is on the wildfowler to establish whether the foreshore is priv
  22. Go for a nice Tactical 10x40! You still see Tasco super snipers going for less than £200. Falcon Menace £160, Bushnell £160. John
