If someone else slips yer dog then yea can get found out when these lads go over they are not sliping 200 yrd away as that dog was sliped. As for how good or bad the hares are here or their its one of those questions that cant realy be answered .The land over their has alot to do with how the hare runs I.E. If its wet the dog can ball up or the hare can ball up if its dry the ground can go rock hard in hours .The hunting over here is a lot more cosistent at the right time of year houdini your new name is Mr Excuses Wel see what you have come the winter and dont go hiding like yer mates .Ar

First of all maybe it was not the dogs fault but the man but yea do expect fair play and thats another story. The reason the dog was used was he was in the company at the time and it was something to try its not as if the bitch was sent over to england or their was big money gave for stud .The man that had the dog at the time was asked and he said no problem and that the way it happened their was no big deal

Better alrounders yes but some of the staying dogs in england would be very hard to compete with .Again just my opinion yes run a hare into the ground and in my opinion the longer it gos on the worse the dog is because it lecking gears I hunted with a bitch in ireland for 3 seasons never seen her kill a hare single handed and i mean on the bigest land in ireland .Seen her run twice in england first time she killed her first two no problem and her third was a long slip just about got away very luck that hare was pre ban .The second time killed her first no problem and got hurt on her secon

speedie replied to Good Man's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
.speedie your always going on about english dogs being no good .now your saying they dont turn quick enough ,they aint fast enough .they dont jump etc etc etc .and they cant get a good winter hare under control .i never read such bollox ,and going by some of the nonsence being posted thats saying some thing .why dont you say which english dogs your referring to .theres thousands over here .theres never been an irish dog win the forley cup ,the majority of them have jacked or been tailed of ,and the irish hare is never in the same league as a fen hare .if all the irish hares were put on the fen -

I have seen those english breed dogs run here for about 25 years and im not going to get into a slaging match but never seen a top grade dog breed that way. When they were breed with something irish with fire in it then their have been some good dogs produced .Dont think speed is the problem or stay either my opinion is that they do things to slow like fences gates wire they just dont go trough or over quick enough and most of them dont turn quick enough either they never seem to get a good winter hare under control .As i said just my opinion -
GET THEM UP CAPTAIN MAKE SURE YEA TAKE THEM ON SOLID GROUND SO HIS FEET DONT LOOK FLAT YEA KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THE LAST TIME
-
No prob brendan but let me just say this to yea look at the most talked about dogs in ireland this is the way they were started and ran they learn how to go trough a headge playing when their pups and turning aswell and alot more .Every man to his own but some people do the same thing everytime they get a dog and never learn so any man that has had dogs that they thought were real good should keep at what their doing atb

Do you think rabbits put them off? What about lamping them on a few rabbits, to get them started for the future on the day time long ears? A lot say it makes them pull up on hedges, but a lot seem to start them on lamped bunny's as well, confusing stuff, lol.. No rabbits for me day or night i think it dose no good for a hare dog .Some one on here said about sending a young lad out to work to get him used to it well if hes going to be a plaster yer not going to be getting him a eastwing hammer and a chop saw .If a dog is going to be after hares no point in starting it at rabbits wait unti
