  1. Sorry, but I just don't agree in the least. Apart from the fact that it's a criminal activity in itself, poachers are responsible for more damage & inconvenience than anyone realises. The old romantic 'one for the pot' view of a poacher is only held by the deliberately uninformed or ignorant. Blacktabs? You 'resist' those 'little sets' by reminding yourself that you don't have permission for them! If you've asked, & it's been refused, then obviously a reason exists & you'd do well to remember that.   2. you dont say how old the dog is, i,ve seen older dogs that have caught plenty go off retrieving, nothing nicer than a pup carrying it,s catch back makes all the training worthwile
  3. so do most of them jump or just stop at fences and let what they chase get away or do they run for the nearest opening to get through or just run up and down going mentle no mate your confused a dog that stops at a fence or any other obstacle is called a stasher and while you lads up in scotland keep buying them there will always be someone willing to sell them cant you train an adult dog to jump
  4. ferreting this morning with my pup 12 mth bolting rabbits for him he caught 3 then took a nice cock pheasant jumped a barbed wire fence about 4ft and it was double stranded got himself caught up in it nice tear on his chest feeling sorry for himself now. no lamping tonight

  6. always teach them to jump all part of their education its not all big fields and fens alot of my permission small fields plenty of hedges and wire as i found out this morning dog laid up now got caught on double stranded

  10. used to when i was a kid , we used to ferret the railway embankment and the local tip never had any problems not done it for a lot of years though, they never ate the tails ?
