  1. Black assassin, Im afraid I know jackshit about football so I cant comment on that, and I have no doubt that you excellent dogs there too. Sure look we all made a balls of things in the heat of the moment, what with excitement and all, but are we all not in the same boat, just a bunch of fellas out for a bit sport and enjoyment......If certain people had their way, ( like across the water) the likes of you and I would spend every night in watching TV and as true as God I would end up at myself most nights. Dont know where you are coming from with the comment on whippets....
  2. i toughguy phil ad wheaten called rambo it used to live in a little brick hut half way down the driveway that was the best wheaten ive seen do you remeber that dog Zak, I cant remember a wheaten dog called Rambo, what year roughly was that? I remember a fine lurcher dog belonging to a chap by the name of Kevin Reavey just above the border there, back in the 80s called Rambo. I bred off that dog and produced a fine bitch that was killed one night during a lightning strike, believe it or not. hi toughguy the lurcher you remember was bread off rambo the stright wheaten dog and named afte
  3. Michael, there are many lurchermen who if they had 750 dogs for sale, every last one of them would be shite. Heres the difference....From what Ive seen over the years, Philip consistantly produces a very high percentage of pups that go on to make the grade. I will not comment on America but am curious as to why you ask?
  4. I will always keep working dogs Jacob. As did my father and his father before him. I have an uncle across the water who still keeps lurchers but being well into his 80s now, no longer works them. I sold a big coursing dog to J Dean from the South East of England in the early 90s and I know that this dog won every match the length and breadth of Britian back then. I enclose a picture of my own breed from the 90s, an unbeaten bitch at everything.
  5. Well now Black ass......I reckon I was visiting Philips yard before you were born.....but the rest of your comments are very valid indeed. Ive had dogs going back generations and generations from Phil and his breeding has proved itself time and time again. Im sorry to say that I have brought home many dogs from across the water over the years and without being disrespectful to you English boys,Im afraid none of these dogs were cut out to run the difficult type grounds that we run.
  6. Dare I mention after all these years, what happened to the wheaten terriers (17 in number I recall) belonging to the greatest wheaten terrier man this country has ever known, as he was being laid to rest...........SHAME

  10. Oh Sounder, Im afraid you disappoint me once again.....To go on the word of a man who uses the term DRUGONIAN, when the actual term is DRACONIAN, amuses me. It tells me all I need to know about IVORBIGUN, as does his name...God bless him.( must be feeling somewhat inadequate) Trust me Sounder, Philip is a gentleman.
  11. With respect Bigun, Philip is a man with an incredible knowledge of dogs . As I have already mentioned the dogs are kept on a farm. As a lurcherman of many years I have never seen any dog breeder on either side of the water breed such consistantly top class dogs. For those of us big enough to admit the truth, Philip should indeed be respected as one of the greatest lurchermen of his generation. Knowing Philp as well as I do, Im sure he would be laughing away at some of the comments so far. Ted, was probably the finest wheaten dog I have ever or will ever see in my lifetime...owner, Philip King
  12. Yes indeed Jack, Where as Plumber and Philip could not be described as mates, this is not the case with Nuttal, These two were great friends and a considerable amount of Philips dogs went across the water to Nuttal
  13. Steady on there Jacob, Im sure Bryan didnt mean harm . But you are correct indeed, we have sidestepped the issue and should get back on track. I have had the pleasure of hunting on both sides of the water for over 40 years and have seen some sites. I would say that a sizable amount of English lurchers have Irish bloodlines and most lurchermen would admit that.
  14. Interesting point Bryan, looks like the hunting ban has had far reaching effects on decent hunting men across the water there. Im sorry to see that, and I have yet to catch a glimpse of Sounders humour, but you never know!!!!!!!
  15. I will give your regards to Philip lads and Philip lives in County Cavan.Irish Lady was owned by Mickey Quinn but I cant actually remember whether he bred the bitch or not. Thanks for sticking up for me Jacob, one certainly has to watch ones Ps and Qs on this forum. It would be nice Sounder to hear your opinions on these topics considering you come from my neck of the woods.......or do you know the legendary Philip King at all???
  16. God be good to Willie, a fine lurcher man. I hunted on many ocassions with Willie and I can confirm that Willie ranted and raved about Philips bloodlines.
  17. Philip does not have as many dogs as he used too. The tractor tyres is Philips idea and one I have adopted myself. He lays the tyre flat and puts straw in the bottom. No matter how cold or breezy it gets, the dogs are cosy as hell and I have witnessed some amazing dogs reared in this manner. By the way ,the tractors are kept in barns. And yes, Philip does keep some of the dogs seperated from others.
  18. Jack, Im new to this site and I dont know what I can say and what I cant , for fear of being barred, so , Shes a little dinger, an excellent absolutely excellent bitch. I notice a little glint in Philips eye when he works the bitch and I havent seen him react to a lurcher like that in many many years.
  19. I cant speak personally for Philip without dropping in on him but I wouldnt say "good mate", although they new each other well. I have never seen a dog in Philips yard in all the years that had Plummer bloodlines and as regards the " filthy " description, Its a feckin farm and it pisses rain on us year in and year out over here.... what would you expect.....Munster Carpets
  20. Jack, if I can explain about this little bitch, I reckon shes about 23 inches and I actually like the look of the bitch. In saying that I have seen stunning looking lurchers over the years that have not been worth a hat of crabs, and decrepid ugly looking dogs that managed to keep the freezer full all year round. To go back to Philips bitch, well let me say that very very little gets away.
  21. Jaysus lads would you cop on to yourselves....Philip wouldnt give a shite about us mentioning his name on the internet. The sooner the Tories get back in over there and reverse the hunting ban the better, then maybe we can have a decent discussion.
  22. Well said mate....Philip King is alive and kicking, and I have to be careful how I put this next point for fear of prohibition. Philip has bred fantastic dogs over the years and presently has one of the finest little bitches I have ever seen. I have hunted with many fine coursing men throughout England, Scotland and Wales over the last thirty years or more and I dont ever recall seeing a lurcher to match this bitch. Now fingers crossed that some plonker of a moderator does not end this topic. Those off us who know Philip would like to see some respect shown to him.
  23. Ah sure we are not easily offended over here lad, there are quite a few decent hare dogs but the reason you dont hear to much about them is that we dont have the same need to prove that our dog is the best.
