I've just started lamping my mhh, he took to it very quickly, he also tends to fly down the beam, doesn't seem to cause any prob tho, i just move it slightly keeping the rabbit it the beam at all times. Also i've started to take a mate who will hold the bird slightly away from me so he doesn't go directly in front of the lamp. I dont use reflective jesses just a little LED key fob. He comes straight back to the fist when lit sometimes when the rabbit hits cover he'll turn and come back with out landing. He's quite a steady bird but i find him steadier still at night.

As trappa said get into some books, ideally find someone to tag along with, you'll learn a lot this way, if i was you i'd do as much research as poss, and if you can, get out with someone for the rest of this season. THIS is only what i think others may say different, but personally i would leave getting a bird this season as its getting late, i'd get out with someone for the rest of this season this will give you a good idea what your doing, then get your bird ready for the start of next season. Unless your flying through the moult. Always remember that you need a lot of time, especially with

Not a whisper mate, just a text to say that a lady walks her dog in the area and will keep a look out. So going up mon first thing to have a trek over the local farm land.
-
When did she find it? how can i get in touch with her? did it have a blue IBR ring on?
-
Thanks alot mate much appreciated

its near the football ground, its the golf course opposite the big cemetry. i don't no the area well as i live in derbyshire, generally he doesn't tend to go far but is flown daily so should be fit and its was quite windy. The wind was blowing towards the football ground but its a built up area there and haven't had a single reported sighting so makes me wonder if he's gone that far? The other side of the course is mainly open farm land so i'll be going back to look round there, as he's less likely to be seen round there because fewer people will be about. Also have the grounds man at the cem

ring the local radio and get them to say it a few times during the day, , got a few hunting mates tha way will let them know, and am not very far away mate, atb with finding hm I rang links fm the other day they said they was going to give it a mention. (don't no if they did as i don't live in the area) Been up today putting posters out, not heard a thing yet, finding it hard to believe that he's vanished. Surely someones seen/heard him???

I've been flying him off the glove at quarry, only been flying him free a couple of weeks tho, i'm going to do more recall work and manning before letting him near quarry again for the time being. thaks for advice.

There was a buzzard knocking about but it wasn't that close, yes i let him feed up on the woody, then the following day he wasn't fed to keep his weight down. I've been out with him today at 1lb 5.5oz back on the creance as a precaution, and he was excellent to the glove, Last season was flying him at 1lb 5.5oz

Just wondered if anyone could give me a bit of advice, i've been flying my mhh for a year now, he's been flying free this season for a couple of weeks and has caught rabbit at 1lb 5oz and a woody at 1lb 5.1oz, and is usually excellent to the glove. Then i took him out at 1lb 5.2oz and he was his normal self alert, looking for quarry. Then went up a tree and 4 and a half long hours later i managed to entice him down with a dead rabbit. any idea's?
