  1. i had the same mate, put 6 under her and couldnt wait for them to hatch, i didnt bother chucking her off or checking as she has been a good hen before, then a day after they were due i looked under only 2 eggs left. could of wrung the fuckers neck there and then
  2. I couldn't be arsed being a peddler uk it's easier necking then for the ferrets lol
  3. Same for us, in fact we may as well get paid by the minute. If it's quiet we get sent for 'ten' and are expected to clock out. f**k that. I'll go, but there's no way i'm clocking out and they can't force it either. Squeeze every last penny!!! i get half an hour took off for lunch (2.50???) and an hour took off a week for the ten mins brew time we have every day in the morning....
  4. nowt better than working on a farm! ye 90% of it is shitty boring cold and repetitive, but getting to blast round the dales on a quad feeding sheep or watching the collies gather a big pack of sheep in make it worthwhile, and you never look out the window on a sunny day wishing you were outside, but you wish you were inside when its pissing down!!
  5. these are the swivels. 7 and 6 are £3.00 each, the rest are £3.50 cheers.
  6. all different types for different ages of birds, direct from the philipines. number 3 is 6 foot, number 6 are 4 and a half foot, the rest are 5 foot. £3.50 posted, discount on larger quantities. drop me a pm we might be able to do a deal if you order a lot or more of different types. bank transfer preferred but can do paypal.
  7. how long they been in for already? as i said nowt to lose especially with them being eggs gifted, if they were ur own eggs you can set some more but if they are precious eggs then surely nowt to lose but maybe an odd chick to gain?
  8. I would put a replacement bulb in and try it nowt to lose even if you only get a few out it's better than nowt
  9. Very good reply. i agree. i work on a farm and see the ingenuity of a collie on a daily basis, and i dont have a clue about sheepdogs, but if i go out to do a job with the dogs on my own without the handler present, they work out very quickly whats needed to be done, and me trying to command them only confuses them, so i agree they are very smart in that respect. these dogs work on quite big open ground and need little or no commands really when gathering sheep, their proper sheepdogs not your trial dogs. but my dog cuts off rabbits and learn to hunt off a labrador so is its all its crac
  10. pekins are pretty high maintenance with feathered legs and feet in wet weather and free ranging they are terrible.... i found they were more prone to scaly leg also...
  11. i like the chick recipe and everything i think thats a good idea... but do you not think garlic and vinegar in water and giving warm water etc is mollycoddling? if my chicks cant survive on a good starter food and fresh water, nowt else in a clean environment are they really that strong??
  12. i creosote once a year the inside of pens, or when needed noramectin cattle pour on on the birds, and dust them at the same time. i think its better to keep doing it rather than waiting for them to explode and try and deal with it. i had a massive outbreak once and i can still feel them crawling through my hair when i went in the shed also i know it may sound silly but if i get any new birds i dust them and noramectin them straight away, and im careful where i get birds from, no auctions etc. im not being funny, but i know 3 or more places i can go and buy proper creosote off the shelf
  13. Have you seen the cock doing it? I have 1 cock they when I go to the pen he will be pecking around like he's finding food for the hen then he will start pecking the egg. Empty some eggs with a syringe and fill it back up with curry powder mixed with vinegar or something nasty, worked for me
  14. thats not fighting... whats white crusty bits? one cure id say CULL
  15. Hi mate only wood I bought was 8 lengths of 2x2 rest of the wood is off big pallets. Roll of wire was 50 but I could probs do 2 of these with it.the roofing sheets were 16.50 each and I used 3, but if I reduced the size by a few foot or altered it I could get away with 2 sheets. If I had more time I would of tried to scavenge some box profile tin sheets and some 2x2 from somewhere, and if i was making more I would of bought more stuff in bulk so would probs work out cheaper.
  16. i am slap bang in the middle of a village, no foxes around me in ten years of keeping chickens here ive never had a problem with any predator. but yeah if i was somewhere else i probs would sink some wire in
  17. does sharp sand differ from building sand if its not a silly question?
