  3. Thanks for the advice mate, i'm shooting over beans
  4. So i'm off out all day Saturday for my first attempt decoying. I'm dedicating the whole day to sitting in my hide, but i'm not sure what time to start. Can anyone give me some advice on the best time of day to set up your decoys and hide. Obviously i don't want to be setting up when the pigeons are flying over! During my previous visits to this land to shoot rabbits, i've noticed a fairly steady stream of pigeons throughout the day. Any help is much appreciated ATB
  5. Well i've been shooting lots and lots of clays recently to make sure i'm shooting ok before i try to bash pigeons, and that is addictive enough! I'm looking forward to a new learning experience. The likelihood is that i probably won't get anything my first time out, but thats ok. 1 pigeon would be a bonus. My experience from a decade of fly fishing, is that after time you learn to know what you're doing.
  6. Thanks for the advice guys. I'll let you know how i get on

My mate and i have bought 12 hard plastic shell decoys, which look very good when set up. However the more i read, the more i hear about how flock coated decoys are the best. Can anyone reassure me that the non-flock coated ones will do fine, or should i just buy some new flocked ones before i go out? Thanks in advance potamkin
  8. I know you've had a lot of HW100 recommendations already, but i'll offer mine too. I've had my 100 for just over a year now, and its astoundingly good. With good optics and the right pellet, you really can put pellets through the same hole at 35 yards. My mate has a BSA Scorpion T-10 which is also a great piece of kit, its lightweight and feels good in your hands, but the bolt action is a lot more clumsy than the HW100's side lever, and the magazine is far from ideal. The HW100's mag on the other hand is flawless. Check out the AA S510 though. I haven't held one in my hands, but if
