  1. There is more than a 22lr but nothing you'd notice. Bit like compareing a PCP with a well tuned, very smooth springer
  2. I just set up ready to shoot, assumeing ammo is known etc & this is for a scope swop zero not a new rifle set up. Settle down & shoot 3 rounds while aiming at the bull. Adjust & try again. Not much help ? Well perhaps the method info is lacking but I'll tell you to take your time, blating ammo down range to zero is considered a waste of ammo so the quicker you can do it with as few shots as possible the better. or you can do a no rush job & use every shot as a practice to kill shot as well, every shot aim for the bull, the POI group should still be tight. A quick 3 or 5 s
  3. Photogrtaphic use only. Mouth calls are ok for shooting. http://www.youtube.com/user/gunvidder?feature=mhw4#p/u/36/EFqvq3CxAbE
  4. 410's have tight chokes normally & not a very long range, probably better off with a good air rifle. If the rabbit is moveing you'r not much better off with a 410 due to the choke & low pellet count. They are good within there limits though.
  5. If you zero at 20yds you'll find the second zero around 60yds. The drop to 115yds is 1,1/2 mildots for me. Most people zero at around 60yds for an ave' range for hunting. If you have a particular range to shoot a\t zero for that. Group sounds good enough for Eley subs.
  6. To choose the best hunting pellet do you just go by what others recomend or do you test them out first ? As long as they hit the spot is that good enough ? Penetration & shock value has to be considered. Are heavies the best & essential to put up with the loopy traj' ? Do expensive pellets give better results just because they cost more ? Target shooters wash, weigh & sort through to get the best results. Are hunters lazy & just buy whatever. Are hunters more easily conned by sales talk because they believe all sales talk & don't check out comparison tests of their o
  7. With my FAC grant I had to have a mentor for .22lr & enjoyed the experiance & learnt a lot. I'd used air & shootties for years. There's allways something new to learn. Now got a HMR as well. I much prefer the .22lr but do like the HMR as well. I don't think you can really be recomended what's best without seeing what the ground is like. If you allready have used air & shotties then a .22lr is a very good starter. If you want longer range go for the HMR later. The huge advantage is with a .22 you can get away with cheeper quality scopes, cheaper silencers & cheaper a
  8. In fair, well used condition. Ex library book. I was hopeing for about £5 for the book & R/D cost is about £3. Open to offers.
  9. I hadn't seen them & was getting quite interested untill I saw the price.
  10. Go to your local police station & ask for the forms. You'll get the address from them. Or look up your local area firearms dept on the web.
  11. A dimmer works better than a filter. Orange with a dimmer is better than red on full beam. Don't use the center but the outer part still within good power range of the center. The very edge isn't so good. Best buy yourself a dimmer before any filter, you will find you might not need one.
  12. A few vids about old shotgun cartridges. You might find them interesting. Holland & Holland paper cartridges. http://www.youtube.com/user/gunvidder#p/u/9/jUICP151R-c Winchester & Eley cartridgesin bad condition. http://www.youtube.com/user/gunvidder#p/u/4/mTh9EhdePh4 Selection of old paper cartridges & a look inside one. http://www.youtube.com/user/gunvidder#p/u/1/ISXjrbIN0Gk
  13. No I wouldn't. I feed songbirds in the garden. I shoot Corvids & Squirrels to give them a helping hand in the breeding season. Spotty yooofs with cheap air guns shoot bottles, cans & songbirds on public land. I'm not a spotty yoof.
  14. I've got the smaller 42mm version & rate it highly. Not lamped with it yet though. A friend come around the other day & looked through a few scopes & prefered his AGS 3-9x40 scope over the 6500, WTC & EB 10x42 ?????
  15. Pigeon. Common enough for every one to shoot. Good to eat as well.
  16. Don't get one. Go out with your mates & learn about them first. When you find out about what's needed to look after them you might change your mind. More than a bit different to keeping a dog or ferrets.
  17. I had a El Chimbo folder. (Hammer gun) You could shoot, open, load & close it then cock it by pulling the hammers back. Not seen the type you mention but could try being a bit more gentle closeing it ? It does sound fault though judgeing by other owners replies.
  18. Apply with your new address. Put a note in about your presant address & the move. The visit to see you can be arranged after you have moved address. Land check if needed can be done without you, mine was. Other checks are done by post or phone call. If you apply now It saves a wait, if you use the new address It will save time sending in your cert's to be ammended.
  19. There's a warren I ferret. One part has a hollow tree & the rabbits go up inside (from the warren) & come out of a hole about 5' up the trunk. They eat bark so I'm not surprised to hear of climbing rabbits.
  20. Here's one on an air rifle. Same type of internals as the QGS.
  21. The best to be dissapointed with is a .22 Webley.
  22. Consider a full body deek to put up a tree. Small pocket size bino's are handy as well.
