Yep, we even sat down and shared a cuppa tea and a doubke decker choccie bar. Just to see, relax and have no bloody woman or knobhead kids moaning for whatever reason was ace. I might do this again, just walk and no lamp once a week just to unwind and take stock of this fragile life (without kids) Wish i was sterile or had the snip 2 hours of fun, nightmare for a lifetime. Went upstairs last night as i could smell burning, the lad told me "what", " Eh" then after a grilling, he said he had been setting alight to paper in his bedroom because he was bored????? feckin idiot, i

Went out last night with the beddyx whippet, walked 6/7 miles and had two slips over 4 permissions, i couldn't be arsed to slipm him all the time. Not one rabbit caught either. Do i care, nope!! The dog and i had some time together and i used it to clear my head after the stresses of life for a few hours and just see the wildlife and the moon light for a change. Probably the best night out i've had in ages, no rabbits, one man and his dog walking field after field after field, it was ace!! Couple of nights to go and then we are on it proper. But last nite was awesome for a cha

Usually i would say pup, but i managed to get a 23 month old beddy x whippet and he is 100% on the button. Apart from being hard mouthed (which i was told when i went to see him run) he is all there. So you can if your lucky, and under the right circumstances find a decent older dog. Sometimes there are circumstances when someone needs to part with their dog, maybe cash, or personal reasons etc... which is a sad part of life. But i can also see that there are other reasons not to buy an older dog such as getting bad habits etc.. In my opinion, if you are offered a dog, go and see it work,

Advice from you more experienced fellas

Cheers lads for the advice, will try and get along the fence from one of the gates. If this is unsuccesful, i'll put a few ferrets in and longnet the field and have the dog aswell -
Hi Folks I both shoot and run my dogs (i don't shoot my dogs) , but i also have two JRT's (7 months old) that are starting to take an interest in various things. I've never done any ratting or digging and wondered if any of you guys would be kind enough to let me tag along one day to see what it's all about? I can repay the favour with some good shooting & lamping and a few beers

Hi guys/gals I have a particular field that is quite rife with the bunnies, but unless i shoot them, the dog isn't really succesful on the lamp here. The field is surrounded by a wooden gate fence, (no prob as the dog can jump it easy) and there is gate access to the right hand side and at the rear on the left hand side. The field has a small tarmac footpath about 3ft wide that runs behind the field and provides access onto the road. The issue here is, that all of the burrows are in a thin pocket of heavily brambled woodland that is about 4ft wide and runs the length of the field.

Hi folks What wound cream do you guys use on your dogs for scratches, grazes & bites etc... Cheers

My beddy x whippet is so switched on when on the lamp, the other night myself and Darrall (the invisible scarecrow) on here went down to his permission for a look around. He had some serious long runs (300m +) and didn't manage to get anything as they all evaded into hedgerows etc.. Well, on one of the last runs he went for the rabbit and it turned him by a hedgerow, then all of a sudden there were about 4 Muntjacks sprinting down the field. He took one look and decided the rabbit wasn't for him and tried to pull a deer down I called him off and fair play he stopped, but he was prop -
My JRT swallows em whole, plus he loves rading the orchard for peaches. Skye my whippet bitch will eat anything, and i mean anything. It's quite funny watching her roll her lips and blow down her nose when she's eating leftover madras and keema naan Although, her farts are proper kronk

Hi all I sent my SGC application off around 4 weeks ago now and i have heard nothing at all, no letter, no phone call about visit, not a peep etc... Is this normal procedure at all, or should i have at least expected something? West Mercia by the way, anyone have any experience with timescales with this force? Cheers

Has anybody got any plans or drawings for a longnet basket? I can make these up pretty easy if i have the dims and or pics to work from.

I breed purebred KC reg whippets, and i have both workers and racing dogs out of the same litters. All the talk of KC being a waste of time is total crap. If someone wants a purebred to show, then i can supply, if someone wants a purbred to work, then i can also supply. Simples And no i'm not flogging any at the moment i hasten to add The trick is in the training and the owner, not the dog. The dog has an inherant natural instinct to run, so it needs to be taught. No one dog will be ideal at everything quarry wise, distance wise and endurance wise etc.. Same as women & cars
-
My purebred whippet knows he's fast but i think he must be a spastic or have brain defect, as he can run anything down when he's not eating grass, rabbit shit, or decides that horses are much more fun to run after rather than rabbits. One day he's gonna get a rick kicking off one!! Mong, and his farts are just pure evil

I have the patience of a saint 4 Kids, inc two teenagers, a nasty fighting farm cat, 4 whippets, 2 jacks, a westie and 4 ferrets and a nutter for a wife, so this will be easy, at least it keeps me out of the house
-
Cheers fella's That's some great advice. I will try some stuff that you have suggested, and let you all know how he comes on. Cheers

Around 4 times now. When i slip him off the lead, he goes like a bloody rocket!! Trouble is he just runs around the field like a nutter. His pace is just simply awesome, he outstrips all of my other whippets by a country mile. (and i breed them) I just don't know what to do as the best. He is quite jumpy and i think he has been beaten as he flinches at any noise, but he has such a good tempement and is really loving and has settled in with all of the other dogs inc my jacks and working Westie (awesome marking bitch at 8 months already) Like i said his pace is off the scale, but he is

Hi all Just got a new whippet dog from a family who didn't want it anymore, it's 16 months old, and he doesn't want to know on the lamp. I have taken him out a couple of times, but he just messes about sniffing the ground and generally being an arse. He doesn't follow the lamp either. The trouble is, he's probably the quickest dog i have ever seen, he can turn on a penny and has some serious stamina. Anybody got any ideas on what i need to do to get him sorted, either by keeping persevering or training somehow. Help

Cheers guys. I just wish i had a hand grenade, i could have gotten around 200 of the critters!!
