    i have 2 teams of 5 gills 1 snipped hob.first team are old veterans 7-13,second lot apart from hob last years kits[unworked yet] to bring on this season.also got 3 gills and a entire hob which were found in a bad way and brought to me as they do,1 of the gills came to be brought out of season,but the lad did not come back for it.

    sorry to hear that mate,cant be 100% ,but what you described sounds like adrenalin disease.bad news is if it is there is no cure for it.can be fatal,not much of a consolation 1 of my gills is on its 3rd year with it,and another its second.look bloody awfull through the summer but shape up ok come the autumn.my mate had 1 for 5 year totally bald except for head and tail,moulted out in the fifth autumn,looked spot on.hope you get sorted.

    i still cant get my head round why people get kits every year,get them going, turn out to be good workers and then bin them at the end of the season.then buy a gill a couple of month down the line,mate it keep a couple and ditch the rest on anyone who will take them.then start again,i personaly cant see the logic ,as i value a good working ferret as much as my dog.thats my rant over,has its been said wont change a thing.

    never set goals,just go out enjoy the day,good crack and abuse,and hope fully get a few bunnys.

    i would not put any type of cloth items in for nesting as kits can get tangled up and suffocate,same as with pups you can never be to careful.and as for sawdust i have never lost a ferret to sawdust poisoning.

    got the nod of a groundsman in a grave yard,relatives complaining about the mess rabbits where making.got a few bunnys then a kill ,got a mark on 18 inches but a strict no digging policy and any way the top of grave was concrete.so nothing to do but waite,as the light was starting to fade my mate says put youre hand down hole is said put yours down some one might grab hold of you.all the time there was banging and squeals,so we decided to do it together,fiddling about in the now darkness we grabbed each others hand,and to say we sh~t ourselfs is a understatement.we both jumped up calling each

    i knew i was doing something wrong,but for the last 40 years just could not put my finger on it.thanks to the words of wisdom from this well informed chap im sorted.must call down my vets on monday and tell him to,as(in his words)you could write on a postage stamp what any one in here knows about ferrets. PS free to collector chest freezer full of dead stuff,ferret keepers need not apply as i dont want a liable case against me.

    as ive said before on other posts,i have had ferrets just about all my life and 90%of the time they have been kept on white sawdust,never had a problem.but as i have also stated each to there own.
