I always gut rabbits and either leave in the lungs/kidneys etc or pile them all into a bowl and feed them all at once. Birds I usually gut as well because on the odd occasion when I dont Im left with the gut and stomach contents to clean up anyway :sick: .

Only rabbits can catch myxi as far as I know mate. Ive fed mixi rabbits (with heads cut off) to my ferrets a few times but only when they are just starting to get it. As there is f**k all meat on them anyway when they get it too bad and I hate the thought of it when they have all the puss and that in there jaw. But if they are just starting to get it then they should be ok. As for eating them myself :sick: No thanks!

Cheers guys. The hobs have a hutch each and all the girls are in the big run together. Depending on how they get on I might put the hobs together over the winter until there balls drop.

Just thought Id put up some pictures of my new ferret hutch/run that i bought of ebay which arrived yesterday. The hutch has my three jills in it, albino mother and daughter and a polecat I got from del from this site. go for it, mine has arrived this morning, easily assembled, two large flat packs, no more than half hour from start to finish, well made, plenty of room, overall good product, good value for money, although i was concerned over the delay in delivery ! Ordered one a few weeks ago mate and it came yesterday. Gunna put pics up asap. Im really pleased with it.

That solway feeders is only about 25 miles from where I live. Reckon Im gonna go round one day to buy a one of those live catch traps and have a look at the other stuff theyve got loadsa gear! Like the look of them game carriers but I was thinking of making one or two myself. Btw artemis will the ferrets not knock over that gravity water thingy? I think they are for wee chicks are they not? Although once its full of water it might be a bit more stable eh? This is a genuine question btw Im not knocking you for buying it or anything!

I am lucky enough to be in a good job and my employer will send me on courses in subjects I feel like developing as long as they are of benefit to my employer so all is good. Only problem is Ive applied for a new job within the same employer, sort of a promotion but more like a sideways step with a little more money. The problem is that this job is going to involve a lot of travelling and working a lot of hours. Mine arrived today and Ive just spent half an hour in pishing rain putting it up. Going to let it dry out for an hour or 3 then put my 3 jills in it and hopefully get some piccies up if my sister lends me her digital camera (idiot that i am smashed mine)!!

My jill has over the last 2 or 3 days started losing hair around her eyes. Like an area around her eyes looks like it is bald and pink. Never seen this before but she has been in contact with my other ferrets since this ocured. Has anyone else had anything happen like this? Is it something to worry about? Also, it might help to know that she was recently taken out of season by a snipped hob, and has already had a litter this year.

Artemis I have received no word since that email saying they would be arriving last week. Im glad Im not the only one who is concerned! I could really do with it coming this week as Ive took the week off work to give me time to get it set up as work has been a real drain on time recently! Buy some live catch rat/mink traps. That way if your ferrets escape the traps wont kill them. This will also give you the advantage of owning one of these in case your ferrets ever go missing.

I have recently upgraded from mk1 to mk3 but havent used it in the field yet but Im fairly chuffed so far. So I would have to say mk3.

I shoot a Weirauch HW97k in 177 and it certainly does the job on the rabbits. Thats what I mainly use it for. Not a bad air rifle to shoot from a car window either

Thanks for posting the pics mate, she looks like shes settling in grand That ferret is identical to the mother, I know its only an albino and theres not many distinguishing features but by the shape of her face/head she looks identical! It looks a nice set up you've got for her too. Good to see that your getting the kids into ferrets at a young age as well. Cheers
