  1. I have a lot of success when using only one crow decoy and a split open rabbit, having said that, this is with a shot gun. Camouflage and concealment is the way for success with crows.
  2. I've had one for a couple of years, great tool for lamping rabbits out off 4x4 just after harvests, distance quit good if using 18g loads very quite depending on terrain stand off from one being shot 100yrds and you will be pleasantly surprised how quite they actually are, ideal if you ferreting bushes were they tend to hole hop, little damage to meat especially if you use smaller loads, generally an all round tool opens up shooting areas were you normally wouldn't shoot due to noise issues.Biakal Hushpower synthetic a great gun would fully recommend one.
  3. Just wondering how often people get out on there permmisions,I try to get out at least ones per week but often worry about over doing it,farmer and land owners always seems obliging when i ask,and now the fields are being cut I am egar to put a few more session in,I always go out of my way not to upset the boat,Permmisions can be hard to come by.
  4. I shoot AA Field 16g good consistant groups and hard hitting at range.
  5. I got a bsa ultra .22 multi shot, very accurated use it all the time perfect head shots up to 45-50 yrds no problem, pellet on pellet dependinding on pellet type and operators skill level,40 good full power shots before dropping off, don't find pellet count a problem when out hunting.
  6. To us folk shooting trapping rabbits is a day out,to the farmer getting them off his land can mean extra income from his crops, they let me on there land for one reason only and that is to control the rabbits, leave them alone long enough and they will build back up in numbers to a problem level,so I change tack through out the year to keep the population at a level the farmer is happy with.Keep them happy and they keep you happy.
  7. The farmer wants them off so I take em off, simples.
  8. Just checked zero at 20 mtrs on my BSA Ultra .22 and it was not a millimeter out even in very heavy rain nice to know eh.
  9. Still getting out with ferrets took yesterday 2 adults and 3 3/4 grown, previous session had 7 all full of young, multiply all those by seven the farmer said and then you see why I'm so pleased with your results, obviously I will have to call it a day with ferrets when cover gets to much and all the young are in warrens, but then I be sitting on warrens with my .22 BSA ultra the most I've had in one session with it has been 7 up to yet. With all this attention and time spent I'm paying to control the rabbit population the farmer is very pleased and in turn I'm gaining his trust and in turn he his
  10. It was only a few days prior to losing my ferret that I court a male hob a big boy trying to get into my Jill's he was as strong as an ox and very wild I though of trying to tame him down but decided because of not needing a hob I let him go at the local golf coure were they are having probs with to many rabbits,he was well capable of looking after himself.
  11. Cheers fellas,I set a cage trap under hutches just in case she happened to find here way back,I am in a well populated area so I must assum that sombody has picked here up,there is a pet rescue house near to me,I have phoned them but no luck,I will give it a while longer and then will be looking to replace here.

  13. Get a couple of good trust worthy lads with ferrets to vist occasionally.Talk to the plot owners telling them what you intend to do and also the site steward if you have one.
  14. Court a male hob in a cage trap,he was trying to get into jills hutches last night,a bit snappy don't know how long he's been running around, anybody lost one pm me.Worksop,Kilton area.
  15. I've got the ultra .22 about 40 shots at full power before dropping off,I find the shot count not be a problem when out hunting,a very accurate rifle, taking bunnys up to 62yrds aimed head shots, change the factory silencer (its crap) to a Weihrauch and it will be wisper quiet,a very light pcp, pellet on pellet grouping depending on your ability,I picked mine up for £200 second hand.
  16. Cleaned out my hutches today and seen an epidemic in the flea population so gave them all a real good de-fleaing,suprising to find that I could only see a couple of fleas on one of my gills.
  17. From what I know they have been at it for some weeks now,so it is only a matter of time before they are brought to justice, any info please pm those that need to know, pooling are resources will help bring these thieving gits to account.
  18. Try telling the farmer that you are saving them for next years sport,I know what my farmers will say,*****r of I'll get some one else.
  19. Have you reported it to the police,I think you should,I will ask about and private pm you if I come up with owt,no promises though we need to nail these thieving gits.
  20. I take my range finder out when rabbit shooting, and even use it when roost shooting pigeons, a very useful piece of kit.
  21. Had the nod a week or so ago that some ferrets were being stolen in my home town Worksop, put the feelers out and got some suspects,so I know were to call with some of my mates if they ever come my way.
  22. I never leave it to late in the day, don't want to be digging or waiting for ferret after dark.
  23. Had the nod, some lads at it at the moment in Worksop notts,Beware,I've a good idea were to call with a few of my mates if mine go.
  24. A moderated 410 definitely has it's uses,it opens up areas were you cannot shoot because of the noise problems or were want to be more stealthy. Also it used correctly ie: the right amo to suet distance and quarry they do less damage to the meat and tend not spook nearby quarry as much.My advice would be to get a 12 gauge for first gun then look at a 410 later on if you have a need for what I have said,I have Baikal Hushpower fantastic little gun got its place in my cabinet forever. Just to add all shotguns have the same killing distance but it's the shot size and the pattern that kills clean
  25. Don;t let them towny idiots get to you mate,by law every body that owns land in this country has to control rabbits on his / heres land,(it's a fact).
